Re-painting or covering in vinyl my dish reflector?

My actual dish, the reflector it self, has started to look crappy and weathered. I know others have "refreshed" theirs either by painting or with a decal of their favorite college or pro team but my question is will this paint of vinyl cause my signal to suffer in any way?

Any color flat spray paint is fine....you get extra points for not doing a smiley face.
Don't paint the white plastic cover.

There are dish covers available that also are fine but $$$$$.
