[VOOM] Phone Line

Does Voom still require a home phone line? I really want to get
Voom, but I don't want or need a home phone. Is Voom working on
something for people that don't have a home phone? Thanks.

[VOOM] Re: Phone Line

I have been wondering about this too. While I wait for the receiver
to be sent so it can be installed, Do I need to install a phone
line? I really do not want to use one of those AC plug in the wall
devices for phone either. First, I have DSL on the same line and
Second, if you plug them in a surge protector, it kills the phone
signal. I am not about to leave anything unprotected. (IE. Surge
comes in and zaps via phone line, despite the fact I have everything
else protected.)

I really have no use whatsoever for Pay Per View. I had it on C-
Band and unplugged the phone line for the last 8 years. I don't
buy "special events" ever and my new movies come on DVD.

Do I REALLY need to run a new phone line for voom?

My VOOM was installed last Thursday. The installation did not require a
phone line nor have I plugged one in since. 4 Days and counting. My guide is
complete and all stations, including local are in the guide.

So far no need for a phone line. I hope it stays that way. If and when they
release TCPIP support, I'll be able to use that as I have a wireless lan.

HTH,

Robert Heitner
