Record directly to external HDD, now available?

I missed this if it's been mentioned, but I just noticed on my 622 (L448) there is an option to record directly to the external HDD.

When I select something in the future in the guide, previously the record options were, "DVR", "Auto Tune", and "Reminder". Now, "Ext" is available as an option.

I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere, but I can't believe I'm the first to notice. Is this just something new with L448? It's not available on my 722 which still had L447.

That's been there a while. It's an option to record to an external device (pocketdish) not hard drive.

Well they ought to clarify that then. What is it with Dish and software design?
