My diseq switch is set to "OFF". Haven't tried Fat Airs suggestion yet.
The problem is continued from another thread here where I was in a test
mode with only C-band plugged in. When I plugged in KU, I got no signals
whatever. Unplugged C-band and plugged in KU and got signals.
It has to be my diseq switch settings as Fat Air said.

Anyway these are the programs I am getting on AMC9 C-band:
agapetv, aptn, mgtv, zns, nasa, wwor, wpix, pbs, wgn, global, toronto,
estrello, kmccw, inn, salvador, This network.
On KU: jcrqsn, Patient channel.
No tuff etc.

added diagram for programming info

Help would sure be appreciated in programming the Pansat 250Sm for use with a Disqc switch to select band. Setup works with either the C band or Ku band lnb directly wired to the STB. So it's just a matter of getting the receiver programmed correctly. Thanks

Latest findings on the Pansat 250sm screen.
diseq switch is a Pansat 4x1 super mini.

Settings available on the Antenna setup screen:
Possible Diseq settinga:1.0 #1 thru 1.0 #4, 1.1 #1 thru 1.1 #16. Nothing
else shows.

Here are my settings on the Antenna Setup screen for AMC9 C-band:
TP -----
lnb power on
lnb type standard
lnb local-freq 5150
22k off
diseq 1.0 #1 (off doesn't work with C and ku plugged in)
legacy sw none
Positioner setting off
satellite scan fta

Diseq switch set to 1.0 #1 didn't work either
also tried 1.1 #1 and that didn't work

Don't have latest update added to the 250sm.
Still on b-11 as of 2008

Hi Again! Are you sure AMC9 is what your looking for!All those channels you have listed are not on AMC9!They are on AMC3 at 87west.Just trying to help!if your really looking for AMC9 then your not on the correct satellite now.

Hi Syanleyjohn,
Very possible that I am on the wrong sat. However Amc3 has a ton of stuff on it
to which agrees with the stuff on the List. So I don't know what I am pulling in.
You 6' guys can only pull in the moon whereas I must be getting Jupiter:D.
Amc16 doesn't have any C-band on it so it can't be that. Nimik4 amd AMC5
are only KU so that can't be it. My click count for amc3 is 5179 and for Amc9
is 5157. Seems reasonable but who knows.
Thanks

 The whole thing just rang a bell in my head because just last evening i was watching some channels on both AMC3 c and ku.I like to watch this tv on the c band and the patient channel on ku has its moments also. You can estimate where your next 10 degrees is when searching for another satellite by counting the clicks and reading the numbers on your motor mover display! For me one click is about one degree or one.So if i know that amc9 83deg is say number 200 and im looking for amc16 which is at 85 west!I add 200+20 then move to 220 then do a blind scan!theres a good chance of finding channels then matching them up to the list to see if your on amc16.After you know your on the correct sat then you can +/- click a few to max the signal then store the satellite. This has worked for me when i had no idea what tp was currently active on a satellite.Works better on c than ku because ku has a smaller area to find a sat compared to c! in other words you need to be closer to the signal peak of ku than c before you will be able to lock on to the satelittes TP signal.Well does look like your heading in the right direction!Hope Fat and others can help you with some of the technical problems. Stan

Disqc

I see you have been able to see "Possible Diseq settinga:1.0 #1 thru 1.0 #4,"
With your C band LNB connected to the Disqc switch port #1, Program your C band sats to Port #1. Program your Ku band sats to Port #2, with the Ku LNB connected to Port #2 on the disqc switch. Make sure the 250SM's IF input is connected to the receiver port on the disqc switch. That should work with both Ku snd C lnbs, and the disqc switch connected at the same time.
I saw Pansat site was up, looked for the manual, They only have the part of the manual which covers the USB functions available. Which I've "boiled down" here: (hope I got it right,)

250SM backup Inst.

USB STICK must be inserted

CH Data Backup
Press Menu Button (remote)
Select USB
Select CH Data Backup, press the red button and then select YES.
Input the name of the file to save as backup and then press OK.

Code Backup (FIRMWARE)
Press Menu Button (remote)
Select USB
Select Code Backup, press the red button and then select YES.
Input the name of the file to save as backup and then press OK.

To restore programming from a file on USB

Press Menu Button (remote)
Select USB
Select CH Data Backup, OK, select file to be used to restore programming.
Press OK
Select YES, press OK

Above procedure is the same for Code Backup, just select code backup
instead of CH backup.

Notice also, that you can delete an old backup file with the Green button.

To Fat Air,
The wiring for C/KU is the same as shown in your attachment posted in
this thread. I assume port #1 is where the C-band comes into the Diseq
switch and port #2 is where KU comes into the diseq switch. If not, that
is why it's not working.
The only place I know on the 250sm to change diseq values is in the
Antenna Setup. I did one for C-band to 1.0 #1 and another for KU to 1.0 #2.
If you use the other parts to scan a sat, I don't know if the value set in the
Antenna Setup carries through to the others. The others don't have any
way of changing the diseq values. Anyway, I deleted all tps on amc3 C and
KU. Went into Antenna Setup and scanned C-band. Got nothing. Changed
to KU band and scanned and got nothing. Tried Smart Search and got
nothing.

I downloaded the Pansat bin from the Pansat site and from what I can see
they have done nothing to the software since 2008. So I have NOT
updated the receiver. Anyway their instructions are not very clear.

Surely someone out there has a 250sm and can help with this, PLEASE.

Look at the disqc switch and see which port your Ku lead goes to, Use that port setting in the antenna setup for your Ku sats. Do the same for your C band. The diagram and your wiring may not look physically the same.

To Fat Air,
See the attached diagram.
I assume that Port is the same as lnb.
I moved them from lnb3/lnb4 to lnb1/lnb2.
Still no signal.
Lnb1 is set to diseq 1.0 #1. C-band
Lnb2 is set to diseq 1.0 #2. KU-band

Yep- looks like Port or disqc programming # = LNB # on switch. I am at a loss as to why it is not working, other than the switch itself being bad. Do you have another you could try? Remember- all power off when messing with a disqc switch, they are sensitive.

To Fat Air,
Please take a look at the post by Stanleyjohn on the other thread.
His approach to the wiring is different. Not sure I understand it.

I do have a diseq switch that came with the 250sm.
Will change it out and see what happens.

I tried just the C-band only and if the diseq switch is set to 1.0 #1
I get nothing.
Changing it to "off" gets the channels.

:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
THANKS FaT Air
THANKS stanleyjohn
THANKS Satelliteguys for this site.
Without you NO BUD for guys like me...

I graduated. Got both C and KU are plugged in and they are coming in nicely.
Changed out the Diseq switch and found one wire bent. Straightened it.
So I really don't know if it was the bent wire or a bad Diseq Switch or
both.

Still perplexed as to how I am getting the Patient Channel and jcrqsn
on AMC9. Lyngsat and the List don't really help. I told stanleyjohn
on the other thread that I went about 20 clicks east of where I picked
up the Patient channel thinking it must be from AMC16. Could not find
anything there.

Also the problem with the Pansat 250sm update.
I am afraid to mess with the receiver now as I might lose everything.

I dread the next time I have to go though this. Another tree, lightening
or a hurricane and my bad memory.

YIPEEEEEEEE

:D:D:D:up:up:up:clap:clap:clap Ok!! good news! Now lets see what you can get from the sky!take it one satellite at a time. There may still be some bumps in the road but for now lets @party

Yep. Still probably need a little tweeking on KU at both ends of the arc.
So what I need is a strong KU tp about 131d W and about 70 to 58 degrees W.

Still don't know what going on with AMC9 and thereabouts. Maybe I'll
figure it out someday.:)

Ok! here is some Ku to try for!For the far west area of the arc AMC21 125w is the last satellite in the west to have any real ku.Lots of PBS on this satellite! Try for Montana PBS 12103v/4340.For the other side of the arc! Hispasat at 30 would be great!but i dont think you can go that far east.Try for sat Estrela Do Sul 63w it dosnt have much but SCETV PBS 11966v/11280 should be there.Note!! These are all current stations that i have watched the last week or so.Try this for now! Have Fun. Stan

Hey HEY HEY! :) Give yourself a well deserved "Pat on the back":up. I kinda have to kick myself for not thinking of a bad connector:( I am sure that the preloaded TP list is way out of date, as you said the firmware is dated 2008. Here's where The List will help greatly finding a particular sat. Look up the sat in The List that your shooting for. Put the tp freq, polarity, and SR #'s in the TP list for that sat in the receiver. Main Menu>Installation>SAT and TP Edit. Save and then exit back to Antenna Setup. You may want to run the TV out from the 250SM directly to the TV so you can see the 250's screen, so the analog doesn't take over the TV screen while moving the dish.
When you get an eastern Ku bird to register on the 250, you may want/need to do a really fine adjustment to the azimuth, using a Ku signal. Because of the peakyness of a BUD on Ku. On a C&Ku sat, the aiming on C band could be 1 degree off of perfect, but still work very well. That 1 degree deviation from perfect could translate into not seeing the Ku signal at all.
Then a really fine check of the elevation at Zenith, on Ku(or close to it)
Again- CONGRATULATIONS! :up:up:up
Have FUN!!!

I agree with Fat that the list here on satellite guys is very usefull and most important!up to date. Our favorite moderator here Iceberg Keeps it up to date using his 6 footer and all i can say about that is he does a great job on it.I used it very often in the beginning and still use it now when i need a update.Hope your satellite hunting is going good today!Guess its still hot down there!here it has finnally cooled to around 80 for daily highs.

C-band is fine.
KU-band comes in only on what I think is AMC 9. I get the Patient channel
and jcrqsn. I checked 125W and 63W and got nothing on KU. So I am back
to dragging a TV outside in the heat.

Question about setup for KU. C-band LNB Local-Freq is 5150 for all sats.
What is the Lnb Local-Freq for KU. Is it 10750, 11250 or 11750. And is
this true for all sats?
