I read about the romote access on the dish network site. I think I understood it to say to hook up the DVR (I have the 622) to my computer to be able to access shows on my laptop when I am away from home. But it didn't say how to hook it up. I also wrote them to ask but they didn't answer. I see a USB place in back of the DVR and it also looks like a place for a dsl plug. I'm hoping I just need to run the USB from there to the desktop? I'm obviously not a tech person--some help please?

Ethernet cable to your home network, DSL or cable router, etc.

Once it says "Connected Online" you are ready to go with the website remote access.

You need something like a SlingBox to be able to view remotely, this just gets it connected so you can use the web-based scheduling stuff.

The USB port is useful only to connect an external hard drive (EHD) to archive stuff to.
