samsung bp1000 blu- ray player

Since the updates, it has been OK. Some like it, some don't. You might want to look into the 1200 or some of the other second gen players that are coming out a little later.

HEre's the thread over at AVS. THE general consensus is that it doesn't have the picture quality of the other BD players, particulary with motion. I personally have the panasonic and have been extremely pleased with the quality. My friend had one set up in his shop next to an HD-DVD setup and an upconverting player all playing the same thing. The Samsung was hooked up to the best TV of the three and had no better picture quality than the upconverting player and not nearly as nice as the HDDVD.

I had to upgrade my firmware to be able to play the new Pirates BD disc, but other than that I've not had any real issues. It does seem a bit slow to respond to remote buttons when a movie is playing. But I consider that to be minor.

Sound And Vision Mag did a follow up review of the BD-P1000 and they thought that, with the latest firmware, that the Samsung had the same picture quality as other first generation BD players (including the PS/3).
