i have found " The List " and of course it is very helpful . So is the updated list with sat. name changes . i also see the name of the strong transponder . i would like to know if there is a list available with LNB freq. Type of LNB req'd , and minimum size of dish required for each satellite . i have a good sat. aiming site , as we are , obviously all over the map , and , there are too many variances . i spend a lot of time trying to locate sats. , and have patience , but , at least having the correct info. keeps frustration to a minimum . if such a thing exists , please point me in the right direction , and i apologize for the duplicate request. thanks for your time. :music::music::music:

Locate as in aiming or in choosing? If you mean choosing, skip down a bit, else this deals with aiming:

Aiming the Dish:
A motorized dish mount, whether for a BUD on C-band, or a little 36" dish on Ku, tracks the arc.
Once your mount is adjusted, all the birds are along the path your mount transverses.
So, then it's just a matter of moving the (BUD) mount to the proper satellite, and remembering that location.

For the little Ku motors, they actually help calculate where to find each satellite, after initial install and alignment.
You could tell the receiver/motor to head out to the satellite at 97w, and it'd go there accurately even if it'd never been there before.

So, at least the aiming of the dish should not be a frustration.

Choosing a Satellite:
As Lak7 said, Lyngsat is the most all-encompassing site for satellite info.
It's a little confusing with all the data they present, and it can sometimes be a little slow getting updated.
The List, FTAlist, and Global-CM filter out the extraneous and give you the meat of the matter.

I didn't get a feel for what you were looking for that you couldn't find.
C-band? Ku-band?
DBV-s ... or maybe DVB-s2 signals?
Certain kinds of programming ie: ...languages...kids shows... news... PBS?

For satellite footprints and recommended dish size try satbeams.com

There are also lists of TP frequencies and symbol rates and type of transmission for you to view as well as specific channel listings on each TP. This site may well be competing with Lyngsat! I like it a great deal and have spoken with the founder/programmer via email about upgrades and such.

Some sats have C-Band and Ku-band and some are just one or the other. The freqs with 4 digits are C, and the freqs with 5 digits are Ku. Most of the FTA stuff in North America is linear (Horizontal or Vertical), not much FTA circular (Right and Left).

All of that info is on Lyngat.

C band:
5150 LO unless you have very strange hardware (you'd know)
Most are linear (vertical & horizontal) polarization.
Some are circular far to the east, see below for list.

Ku band:
Standard LNBs for most all FTA in North America - 10750 LO
Universal LNBs for a few eastern birds - 9750 & 10600 LO
(the 10600 works fine on all the regular satellites)
DBS LNBs are for circular direct broadcast satellite (pay/DishNetwork/DirecTV): 11250 LO

That's about all there is to worry about.
