Last week, I left my Sat Buddy 2 outside overnight, and, of course, it rained.
It was pretty soaked, and water would spray out as I shook it.

I opened it up, dried it out, but of course, its dead. I have asked what its likely to cost to repair, but my guess is that repair will be close to the cost of a new one.

So, I am (again) in the market for a semi-decent satellite signal strength/alignment meter.

I use it mainly for setting up a Dish Networks dish when out in the RV, but also for FTA work, so it needs to be something that works for both.

The Sat Buddy Super is more than I am willing to pay.
The BirDog Ultra plus (V4) is about as far as I am willing to go (~$399).

I seem to read varying things about the BirDog, some people claim it makes coffee in its spare time, and others say its a pile of junk, and doesn't work most of the time.

I would appreciate any comments on this, and also any other suggestions that people have.

On a daily basis we support technicians during installs and service calls. Without question, on G19 the BirDog has more problems with indicating false positives than all other meters combined.

Maybe buy a used Super Buddy? Many installers are upgrading to the AI Turbo and the used Super Buddy's are plentiful and usually less than your budget.

We have used Sat Buddy meters on our Ebay listing if you are looking for an inexpensive replacement (see the link in the signature).
