How accurate is the footprint map shown for Sirius in this section?
Specifically, it implies that Anchorage and Fairbanks, Alaska, are outside the coverage area. Since this is a polar orbiting system, I would suspect that coverage would be broader (no look angle issues) into central and western parts of Alaska. Does anyone have any real-world experience with Sirius in these remote locations, using an external antenna outdoors?

It is nota polar orbiting satellite. It has an inclined elliptical path. Each satellite spends some of ots time over North and South america. There should be some orbital path maps out there.

This has been discussed before at SiriusBackstage in the "DogHouse" forum. Reports, in summary, indicate that Sirius is useful for most of the day in Anchorage. But there are more Alaskan posters at Backstage now and you might want to revisit the subject.

Sirius transmitters in Alaska

Sirius is negotiating with the FCC to locate ground transmitters in Anchorage, Juneau and Fairbanks. We may finally get reliable Sirius radio.
