My uncle has directv and claims the slimline dish sw5 has a built in heater to melt snow is this true.
 
If you have issues with snow on dish, first try spraying spam on the dish. If that doesn't work, I've seen covers for this dish on the internet. They advertise these covers as not lowering the signal much. I've also seen on the internet heaters you can apply to the

I wouldn't try spraying Spam, or any other meat product on my dish! ;) Seriously, Pam is a vegetable product and you don't want that on your dish. I would use RainX or something similar.
 
Coworker here uses a super-soaker filled with deicer washer fluid for that purpose, since the dish is on his 2 story roof. Super-Soaker adds enough pressure to get the liquid up there. And if it REALLY snows, he has a painters extension pole (10-20 ft. extended) with a brush on the end to give it a light wipedown.
