We battle many things including large corporate stations that do not serve you like we do, and in the case of WION, We've grown tremendously in 11-plus years with YOUR help, (listeners and advertisers!) It's because we CARE about our county, and we live and work here! AM radio battles man made interference, misunderstandings, and corporate owners that treat their AM's like disowned stepchildren. BUT...there's a chance we can help change that. WION is a true radio success story and there can be more of them, with the help of the FCC and your positive comments....

The FCC wants to "revitalize AM radio" which would likely allow stronger AM signals both day and night for many small stations like ours, and we'd have a chance to petition for better coverage. But, to make it happen, we need your help. PLEASE consider going to the link below, fill in 13-249 as the "proceeding number" and let the FCC know, in your own words WHY you value having WION radio and LOCAL radio on the air. What does WION do that helps you? WHY are we important to you? and, please include your thoughts on why AM stations like ours should be allowed to petition for signal improvements! Your comments do NOT have to be lengthy, just genuine in your support of local AM radio broadcasting.

BIG stations and groups are fighting to squelch the relaxing of rules which would help US grow. Please, speak out for LOCAL radio by telling the FCC that WION, and WGLM (our sister 1380 in Greenville) are important to you. If you need to better understand the issue, please call our comment line anytime with your return phone number, asking for us to call you back, and we'll gladly chat with you. (616-425-92-70) We'll also guide you through this form while we're at EXPO this weekend. After all if politicians can campaign, WE CAN CAMPAIGN AT EXPO, too!

We'll talk more about this on the air, in Jim's Blog, and at EXPO! Let us know you filed! You'll be helping small statoins not only here, but in many communities across our nation.

Here's that link to sending positive comments to the FCC about expanding the opportunities for smalltown AM stations like ours.

The biggest problem with AM radio is many of the stations carry the same show simotanously.

These shows are those boring talk stations that do nothing but repeat the same nonsense over and over again.

Much better when AM stations played music with local peeps playing the records.

IN many places this may be true, but without support of AM radio's possible improvement, the chances of you EVER getting better programming are little or none. When a signal is more viable, there are more possibilities in programming. This does not mean that all owners will take advantage, some just don't believe in AM. However, once there's a chance for improvement, SOME owners will take advantage. While I'm not a proponent of satellite delivered programming, as opposed to NOT having any radio at all in a town, I'll take satellite. At least there's a chance that SOMEONE will be in the studio for emergencies and important local events.

WION has filed it's comments with the FCC on how to generally assist our station and other ones with similar situations!

If you enjoy a local AM station which has difficulty reaching out at night, the FCC is looking at quite a few options in rule changes which may help. They do, however need to know from you, the station listener that your local AM station is important to you, and that improvements in rules that favor better AM reception are encouraged by the public. Please put your thoughts on a simple word document, text document, pdf or similar, and submit them to the FCC by going here....and entering number 13-249 where it asks for the "Proceeding number." Your comments are important for AM radio stations across the United States, not just WION, and may help local station owners improve their signals. Remember, situations like this are much like voting. If you don't show support for your local AM, please don't complain about their (day or night) coverage if you didn't show support for them.

It only takes a few minutes. I know WION would appreciate it, and so would YOUR local station if you're far from us!
