It's that season again :)... Just seems like we went through this but hey its welcomed as it means that its gonna get warm again :) Attached is a pdf files (requires Adobe) of solar outages by state or you can visit

http://tech.dishnetwork.com/departmental_content/TechPortal/content/Home/HomeQuicSola.shtml

Have fun as it might not be your equipment after all :D

That list is hosed.

On a number of states that have screwed up and transposed 119 and 105 - with outages at the same exact time - in fact they have 105 occurring after 110 in many states.

But why should I expect anything less from E*.

Well it is not only the DBS satellites that briefly get drowned out (this is very small since DBS satellites are very powerful), but the C-Band satellites the feeds come in to Dish. Dish gets most of its national programming off of satellite. The satellites get drowned out too, then all Dish customers lose the channels at the same time.

again - look at the list.

there is no way that 105 and 119 go out at the same time - and 105 goes out after 110 unless the earth isn't spinning on its axis any longer.

for example - and there are plenty:

GEORGIA 2 MAR - 11 MAR 7 MAR
129 04:00 - 04:20 PM
105 03:15 - 03:35 PM
148 NOT APPLICABLE
110 02:35 - 02:55 PM
61.5 10:55 - 11:15 AM
119 03:15 - 03:35 PM
121 03:25 - 03:45 PM

it's hosed.

So is this list showing the solar outages from the C-Band feed to Dish Network and our feed from Dish Network? What about the 105/129 outages? When should we expect those?

Are all those times out, or just certain ones? Michigan's is very much the same, with 105 and 119 at the same time (impossible I know). Its showing 129 from 3:55 to 4:15, and thats the bird I need to find. Its time seems reasonable from past experience and other utilities that I no longer can access to calculate the time for an outtage.

MICHIGAN 26 FEB - 8 MAR 3 MAR
105 03:10 - 03:30 PM
110 02:35 - 02:55 PM
121 03:25 - 03:45 PM
148 05:15 - 05:35 PM
129 03:55 - 04:15 PM
119 03:10 - 03:30 PM
61.5 10:55 - 11:15 AM

The times listed for 110 and 119 seem to be correct going from memory, so I assume 129 falls into line ok there? 105 appears to be the only wacked out time for Michigan, anyone else agree?

This would be helpful to the installers so that they know that it is the solar outage and not an issue receiving a signal or a problem with the receiver when this is going on.

"Yes, I've accessed your equipment and comfirmed that your dilithuim crystal matrix is out of alignment. Please stand by as I attempt to bypass primary transmission buffer and remodulate via the main deflector array..."

Dude, too much Star Trek....:)

Nah, they should just blame it on those pesky tachyon particles or beams or whatever.

I remember my first solar outage. I was in okinawa in an 85B van with a 20ft dish. Some sorry SOB left the dish in autotrack, the sun went behind the bird, and damned if the dish didn't start tracking the sun. We had to wait like an hour and a half to find the bird again. That was hillarious.

I would agree that 105 seems to be the one out of whack on the charts. I am a little skeptical about the window start and stop times, but yes, in the above examples, its 105 that is odd man out.

Well the bad news: I have no place on my property that gets 129. Maybe if I mounted a dish on a 20 ft. pole, or out in the water at the lake I live at, I could get a signal, but somehow, I think both of those ideas are not recommended! :)

I am lucky to get 129 in. I don't know how bad it will be come summertime. I bet there will be a lot of disapointed people come springtime when they find out that 129 gets tree'd out and they will have to pay for someone to come out to tell them that it cannot come in during the warmer weather months.

Star Wars vs Star Trek?

If you were on a deserted island, with solar panels powering a TV & a DVR, and you had your choice, would you pick the 6 Star Wars movies, or the 10 Star Trek movies plus approximately 695 Star Trek episodes (not counting the animated series)?
