Some bad DP+ Twin LNBF's

Interesting. Is there an obvious (external) way to tell
which flavor I have? I just replaced a failed DP+ Twin
(after 18 months of service) with an identical unit.
Given your statement, I suspect the replacement will fail too.

Just a follow up on the bad DP+ Twins.
It has been reported that the DP+ Twins made in the USA by Cal.Amp. have had problems.

The ones made in China by Sharp are alright.
It was also reported that peaking the dish with a legacy LNBF and then replacing with the DP+ LNBF is easiest.

And now you know the rest of the story. :)

There's no set pattern of failure for the LNBF's, although the Cal Amp rumor seems to be the most common. Whether or not it's accurate is an entirely different story. That said, some retailers are calling DPP Twins and Duals the next Channel Masters, but the numbers and consistency aren't there. If you have a large number of these particular LNBF's (upwards of 20 which experience overheating), likely to be more prevelant in Georgia and surrounding areas (California less so due to weather conditions), contact DISH and see if they want to take a look at that equipment.
