sound problem

Ever since tw switch from analog to digital, ever so often the sound is garbled.
This happends only on the hd channels. I have basic cable that is provided by the aprtment complex. So, is the problem tw, the tv stations, or the network themselves?
I live in austin if that helps.

Do you have two independent volume adjustement. Are you using tv or external amplifier?

Thanks for the reply droned. I have Denon 2808 avr. My tv is Samsung 42 inch plasma. I have tv connected to avr by opitcal hookup. I controle the volume though avr. Since problem occured I've turned off the avr and use the tv's speakers. I still have the same problem.
