So to me what happened to AMC-14 did not matter that much in the first place.

Probably safe to say that in the short term it does not matter (remember the retailer chat yesterday locals will still be launched, as planned and national will be launched as planned) in the short term (2 months).

Long term it MAY affect Dish depending on the AMC-14. Again as it has been stated before. All is not lost on this sat.

First, Canada is not using them this is a Dish satellite.

Second Dish's agreement is for 16 TPs on the new Candadian satellite. They may get more if the Canadians do not use them. So, if they were going by that agreement they are already way over in usage.
Duh, Spotbeam to ConUS conversion factor in effect. now?

There is room on 129 and soon room on 61.5, just have to get those spots working. Dish is not going to put new HD on 129 before they have matching on 61.5 or too many would howl.

Why not!! Are the folks in the East wimps? We in the west had to wait months to get VOOM Channels when they were only on 61.5. I think it would be quite fair to get us westeners started on all the new HD to make up for our patience with regard to VOOM.

Not quite correct. Echostar 5 is currently licensed and conrolled by Ciel.

Based on this Canadian permit, it does appear Ciel is allowed to lease all excess TP’s to DISH as long as the Canadian use and interests are fulfilled. And that is true right now with E5 and in the future with Ciel 2.

Based on Lyngsat charts, no TP’s on E5 is currently used for Canada interests. And if this status continues, it is possible DISH can lease all the TP’s licensed to Ciel by the Canadian authority. The question is how many TP’s are licensed to Ciel by the Canadian authority? If only 20 then DISH will have no more TP's to gain, if all 32, then they may get up to 12 more.

Hi, This post is very informative, however there are some queries to ask about some specific topic. If someone can help me then please send me a private message. Thanks,

Ceil has 32 TPs at 129w. Ceil-2 (the bird going to 129w) has some spotbeam capability. Depending on how the spots are configured, Echostar could get 32TPs from 129w while still serving Canada.
