sports channels on AT120 package

I'm considering signing up for the AT120 programming package.
I realize I would only get 1 of the Fox Sports nets (actually the chart said 2) due to
the territorial stuff, but what about some of the other sports channels, like
MSG, Altitude, College Sports Television, Sports Alternate 1-4, NESN. If I live
in the midwest, will I actually get to watch MSG or NESN?

If you order the sports pack you would get all the Fox Sports channels dish offers, but the out of market pro sports teams and several of the college games will probably be blacked out. The blackouts are controled by the teams. You would get most of the rest of the programing, but you will get quite a few of the same events on a lot of the Fox Sports channels. Depends on what your viewing preference are, you may want to check out the Sports Ticket packages (NHL, NBA, MLB, ESPN Center Court) which offer the out of market games.

Note that you gets the Alternates 1-8 witout Multi-Sport. There is the occasional overflow college game (not blacked out) on these channels.

As for the Multi-Sport package itself, I'd suggest a search here (and on DBSTalk) for multiple discussions on the whether this is worth $5.99/mo).

I signed up for sports pak with Dish for basketball season. If you are a college basketball "junkie", I believe the sports pak is worth it. Some college basketball is blacked out (especially ACC and SEC if you are not in their territory. But many games are in the clear. Once basketball season is over I drop sportspak.

If you drop it at the end of college basketball season and then add it back in November will they charge you some kind of fee for adding programming?

I do not sub to the sports pack. On line it shows that I get two of the Fox networks and in fact I do. I get both Fox Sports Rocky Mt and Fox Sports Midwest. Don't have to go too far in Zip code either way from me and this is not the case.

You will get CSTV at 120, it is not part of Fox though. In fact CBS has just bought major interest in it I believe. You will not get ESPNU at 120, need to be at 180.

That's mostly correct, although some pro sports remain in the clear. Examples include Canadian football, minor league baseball, and some NHL replays.

This is where I used to post the long-as-your-arm list of what you do and don't get with the sports pack. Now, if you really wanna know, drop by and take a look: http://www.carload.com/dishsports.htm

I really have no intention of getting the sports pack, but I noticed in the basic
AT120 pack, it lists sports channels like MSG, NESN, College Sports Television
and such as part of the base package. I was wondering if I would actually get
to see live games (like NY Rangers Hockey on MSG) on those channels, or would
they be blacked out all the time because I live in the midwest.

If you read the fine print, it'll say something along the lines that your RSN is based on where you live. In other words, if you don't live in the NY Rangers home market, the only way you'll see games on MSG is through NHL Center Ice.

TNGTony,
According to the chart at allsat.com, the Fox Sports Nets, MSG,NESN,Altitude, ect.
ARE included in the base AT120 package. Am I reading the chart wrong?

they are NOT in the AT120 (or AT180 for that matter). you only get what local RSN (s) you qualify for

As an example, I live in MN...I get FSN North
If you live in Denver, you get Altitude and FSN Rocky Mountain
If you live in Philly, well you get zip (due to the commycast loophole)

you can add the rest for 6 bucks (but most pro sports are blacked out)

ONLY the LOCAL regional sports net(s) are available in AT60 PLUS and above as I mentioned above.

To get the out-of-market RSNs, you need the Sports pack.

See ya

Not to bring this offtopic abit, but what about the superstations? Are the pro games blocked off these also?

I am new to Dish, about 2 weeks into service. And I just recently just added the superstation pak to my normal programming hoping I could catch some baseball games that MLB extra innings does not show during the summer....

I remember being able to see Red Sox games with my old C-band dish on WSBK, and the Dodgers on KTLA...

Anyone know what kinda sports you can get with the superstations nowadays?

Thanks!

there is some basbeall on the Supers

-20 Skankee games on WWOR
-25 Mets games on WPIX
-There use ot be games on WSBK but Red Sox moved those ot NESN :(

not blacked out (at least they werent the last 2 years)

Since you mentioned TBS as part of AT60, I think you ought to add WGN as a "lots of sports" station in AT120.
