I have replaced the "most likely defective" original SC quad LNBF with a single linear LNBF...skewed the LNBF to around -39 degrees: picking up HISPASAT OK.
Since it is possible to skew the dish itself (it rotates, as has a scale on the back).
I am just wondering if it would be better if I would put LNBF to 0 degrees and skew the whole dish instead ? Or it will not make any difference ?

Thanks !

YES! Its ALWAYS better to skew the whole dish rather than just the LNBF! That way the whole dish is lined up with the satellites in the sky and you will be getting FULL use of the dish!

Let us know what difference it makes to your signal :)

yes skew the whole dish. Then the whole dish will be used for signal and not just some of it (when yuo skew a LNB you lose a little (not much) signal)

If you can skew the dish, do it :)

Skew SC dish

Thanks for the info !
Please correct me if I am wrong:

(My position is: standing behind the dish)

1)Put back LNBF to 0 degress
2)Rotate dish Counter Clockwise to get -39 degress

Will it be necessary to re-aim the dish after rotation ? or it still should be OK ?

Thanks !

You should be VERY close. I use an old DirecPC dish that has 4 bolts to let you skew the dish. I can rotate(skew) the dish 360º and still be BANG on the signal!
