Can you change a remote 2 to act like a remote 1? I only have one TV connected to my 622 and would like to have a spare. Thanks for any information anyone can provide.

You get the benefit of switching channels even if recording on "TV1" and PIP including swap.
You can also swap while viewing to use the other tuner, this is in addition to recall, just press swap with PIP off or on.

You may have to enable Shared view. If its off the remote 2 is disabled in single mode. Note default of shared mode is enabled. It is also possible to change a UHF remote to remote 1, but than the IR remote is no longer recognized.

Thanks for all the handy tips, but I screwed up on my question, so I will try again:

I have two 622's. I will call them 622-1 and 622-2. I want to use the #2 remote of 622-2 to control 622-1 just like the #1 remote does. Is that possible?

but...didnt you say you only had one tv hooked up to your 622?
and you just wanted a spare remote?
which 622 has only one tv hooked up to it?
if your 622-1 has only one tv, then it only makes sense to use the #2 remote for that receiver, and put it in single mode.
if the 622-2 has only one tv hooked up and you want to use the #2 of THAT to control tv1 of 622-1 then yeah, there are ways to do that, but it's getting into the realm of complicated...not sure i can explain how to do it.

All remoes can be programmed to one of 16 frequencies. The manual explains how to program the remotes to different frequenclies so that a neighbor doesn't suffer from your remote or vice versa.

Set the 622-2 remote #2 to a frequency that 622-1 will recognize and put 622-1 in sngle mode with shared view enabled.

To answer the OP's "intended" question, I think we need more information.

Are you wanting to use IR or RF?

Do you currently use it for TV2 (or TV1) on 622-2?

Are you wanting to use it for TV1 or TV2 on 622-1?

622-1 has two TVs connected--HD and SD. 622-2 has only one TV HD connected. I am using Remote #1 from 622-2 to control 622-1 for the HD TV and the Sony AV receiver. Remote #2 from 622-1 controls the SD connection from 622-1. I want to use the Remote #2 from 622-2 to control the HD TV connected to 622-1. In other words I want to control the HD TV connected to 622-1 with two remotes.

Note: I am using the Remote #1 from 622-1 to control the HD TV connected to 622-2. It will not control the new Sony DG-820 I have connected to it, so I use a Harmony remote for all controls, except for the DVR functions.

Wow, I didn't think it could get much worse than your OP. Your inability to cogently describe what you're trying to do is breathtaking. ;)

If you want to use the 622-2 TV2 remote with 622-1 TV1, you just need to install a green key in the remote.

Hello!!! You were the one that asked for more info. Can you see my extended digit to you (No, not a thumbs up.)? If you said that to me in person I would have decked you, but I guess you can hide and act like an a$$hole here.

You were the one that asked for more info.
And I did so by asking very specific questions to which I was hoping to get direct answers (preferably line-by-line).

The issue doesn't really involve all of your equipment taken as a whole -- just what you are doing with 622-2 #2 currently (if anything) and what mode (IR or wireless) you want to use if and when it needs to go into service as a backup.
