New Supergirl Image Offers First Look at Fortress of Solitude http://screenrant.com/supergirl-tv-fortress-solitude/
Now, another huge piece of the Superman canon is set to make its debut, as the upcoming episode “Solitude” will find Kara Zor-El visiting a certain famous Fortress.According to an early synopsis for the episode, Kara (Melissa Benoist) will travel to Superman’s (presumably unoccupied – at least for the moment) Fortress of Solitude in order to conduct research on defeating new villainess Indigo (Laura Vandervoot), a female equivalent to classic Superman nemesis Brainiac, who is set to become a new recurring threat on the series. Vandervoot, incidentally, previously played a version of Kara on Smallville, makingEarly images of the set for the Fortress reveal that the series appears to be using the “crystal fortress” design from the 1978 Christopher Reeve Superman as its main visual reference. Whereas the interior construction of The Fortress has taken many forms over the years, the ’78 movie version – which looks like ice but is actually formed of rapidly-growing crystals generated from a Kryptonian shard flung into the arctic tundra – is easily the live-action version most familiar to mainstream audiences. In Man of Steel, the Fortress was replaced by a repurposed Kryptonian spacecraft that was subsequently destroyed (along with pretty much everything else) at the conclusion of the film.

TOM WELLING EXPLAINS WHY "SMALLVILLE" & "SUPERGIRL" 'HAVE NOTHING IN COMMON' AND WHETHER HE WILL APPEAR ON IT http://www.comicbookresources.com/a...-why-smallville-supergirl-have-nothing-common
"The success of 'Smallville' is directly correlated to 'The Flash' or 'Arrow' -- that genre that Warner Bros has been able to do," he explained. "I do feel proud that it started with us, but it wasn't just because of us. I think technology and timing -- we were suddenly able to do things in television that were, until then, only available in film because of how expensive they were. So we were lucky to be able to have that timing. A lot of the people who worked on 'Smallville,' it's a lot of the same crew on 'Supernatural,' 'The Flash,' 'Arrow.'"When it came to "Supergirl," however, he said, "I do enjoy it. It's got a different angle, a more comedic angle, of course. It's telling the story in a different way, and I don't think it's a world that I ever existed in with Clark because they're two different shows. There's really nothing in common, there are no parallels at all. I say that being a fan of what they're doing. I think they're doing a great job."

"SUPERGIRL'S" FLASH CROSSOVER PHOTOS REVEAL A VILLAINOUS TEAM-UP http://www.comicbookresources.com/a...sh-crossover-photos-reveal-villainous-team-up
When the Flash appears on an episode of "Supergirl" next month, it looks like he'll be going up against two villains he's never encountered before. A candid set pic from last week revealed that Silver Banshee (Italia Ricci) will appear in the episode, but we now know she won't be alone. A ton of new snapshots from the "Supergirl" set have popped up online, and they reveal that it looks like Livewire (Brit Morgan) will team-up with Silver Banshee and go up against Supergirl and the Flash together.

New "Supergirl" Trailer Introduces Superman's Fortress of Solitude and Indigo http://www.comicbookresources.com/a...introduces-supermans-fortress-solitude-indigo
On next week's episode of "Supergirl," a new villain called Indigo will threaten to cripple National City, unless Kara (Melissa Benoist) can stop her.Actress Laura Vandervoort, who previously played Kara Zor-El/Supergirl on "Smallville," guess stars and will be playing Indigo. Indigo is described as. "A living, strong-willed supercomputer that was sentenced to Fort Rozz after turning against the people of Krypton. Now on Earth, Indigo will let nothing stand in her way."The episode, appropriately titled "Solitude" will also take Kara and Jimmy Olsen (Mehcad Brooks) to Superman's famous "Fortress of Solitude." Will they find Clark Kent there as well?

"SUPERGIRL" HAS A NEW COSTUME, NEW ATTITUDE IN IMAGES FROM "FALLING" http://www.comicbookresources.com/a...ostume-new-attitude-in-11-images-from-falling
Is "Supergirl" going dark? Well, in "Falling," March 14's episode of the CBS series, her costume is -- though it's due to exposure to Red Kryptonite, the DC Comics material famous for causing dramatic shifts in the personalities of Kryptonians. For Kara, it's said to trun her from the cheery superhero we know to "malicious and dangerous" -- here are 11 images from the episode, recently released by CBS.

How Kara Will React To Her Sister's Big Secret On Supergirl http://www.cinemablend.com/television/How-Kara-React-Her-Sister-Big-Secret-Supergirl-121277.html
Supergirl threw fans a curveball a few weeks ago during the episode “For the Girl Who Has Everything,” when we saw Kara’s sister Alex use that mighty Kryptonite sword to off her adoptive sister’s evil aunt Astra. The even bigger twist, of course, was that Kara was told that DEO head Hank Henshaw is the one who killed her aunt. Well, we knew that wouldn’t stay a secret for very long, right? And now we have some inside info on how the big reveal will impact the sister’s relationship

Laura Vandervoort on Battling Supergirl (While Envying Her Costume)! Plus: Her Take on Bitten's Renewal Chances http://tvline.com/2016/02/29/laura-vandervoort-supergirl-season-1-preview-bitten/
It’s going to be a very busy Monday for Laura Vandervoort. Not only will tonight’s TV lineup bring a showdown between Elena and the Russian Alpha Roman on Bitten (Syfy, 11/10c), but Vandervoort will return to her comic-book roots when she makes her Supergirl debut (CBS, 8/7c).This is just one of several meta moments that Supergirl has facilitated in its first season. Dean Cain (a former Superman) and Helen Slater (a onetime Supergirl) pop up occasionally as Kara Danvers’ adoptive parents on the CBS series, and Vandervoort herself played Kara Zor-El on The WB/CW’s Smallville.TVLine caught up with the actress in advance of her first Supergirl episode, where she’ll kick off a recurring run as super-computer villain Indigo.Read on for intel on what Vandervoort thinks of the CBS series overall, how her Kara Zor-El costume compares to Melissa Benoist’s and what Bitten fans can expect from the imminent Elena/Roman face-off.

Apparently There Was Almost A Supergirl Show With Laura Vandervoort http://www.cinemablend.com/televisi...rgirl-Show-With-Laura-Vandervoort-121637.html
Melissa Benoist is currently starring in Supergirl on CBS, but this isn’t Kara Zor-El’s first appearance on live-action television. Back when Smallville was still on the air, the Girl of Steel was played by Laura Vandervoort, although this version never donned the red cape. And while the show was still going strong on The CW eight years ago, there were actually talks of spinning off Kara into her own show.Vandervoort admitted the rumors of her possibly starring in her own Supergirl series were true during an interview with TV Line, though the programming at the time didn’t really allow for it go go very far. She said:When we were working on Smallville, it wasn’t officially discussed, but I had heard rumblings as well about a series being done. The timing wasn’t right. There were the 90210s and Melrose Place-type shows. And I’m just glad that now we’re seeing the ability to have a female superhero leading the way.

Supergirl Just Dropped A Comic Reference That Could Lead To Something Amazing http://www.cinemablend.com/televisi...ence-Could-Lead-Something-Amazing-121727.html
The Legion of Super-Heroes’ existence was actually hinted at some months back, although we weren’t sure where DC would introduce them. They first came into being through Adventure Comics in 1958 as a group of time-traveling suits who would visit Superboy on a regular basis. The Flight Ring was introduced some years later as the group’s popularity grew, and the lineup has gone through a bunch of different versions over the years. Supergirl was actually also a member in one version, and other super-members include Brainiac 5, Kid Quantum, Phantom Girl, Dream Girl, Tyroc, Green Lantern and Ultra Boy, to name but a mere few. There was also Porcupine Pete, so let’s hope he shows up in live-action. There’s no telling what kind of lineup Supergirl would give the team, but I don’t think any fans would be too picky about who made the cut, so long as the CBS drama works some far-reaching time travel into the narrative. Kara’s life is difficult enough as it is, especially with new villain Indigo seemingly joining forces with Non, so she’s probably not quite ready for that kind of adventure. But maybe Barry Allen can give her some futuristic advice when he pops by for the crossover episode.

"MAJOR "SUPERGIRL" INTRODUCTION HINTS AT A BIG ADVENTURE IN KARA'S FUTURE http://www.comicbookresources.com/a...uction-hints-at-big-adventure-in-karas-future
In addition to learning that Supergirl is a faster flyer than her famous cousin, and verifying that Indigo is, indeed, a Coluan, the alien race that also produced Brainiac, last night's episode had a few Easter eggs that should have Superman fans buzzing. One in particular brings with it major implications for Supergirl's future. The first classic comic item is seen upon Kara and Jimmy's arrival at the Fortress of Solitude. After she asks how they get into her cousin's home away from home, Jimmy uncovers a massive key, explaining that yes, Superman leaves it out in the open since it's "a million tons of condensed dwarf star."Once inside, a second, even more important piece of DC Comics lore is revealed: a Legion flight ring.Where Superman's key is a fun nod to classic comic stories, the ring's introduction is actually fairly significant. Not only does it add to "Supergirl's" ever-expanding incarnation of the DC Universe -- and answer the question of which show DC Entertainment CCO Geoff Johns teased would feature "a hint of the Legion" -- it gives us strong indication of where the character's adventures will lead future. In the comics, not only does Supergirl travel to the 31st Century where she meets and becomes a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes, it's also where the character strikes up the defining romance of her life with fellow Legionnaire Brainac-5, a descendant of Superman's foe. What this will mean for the budding romance between Jimmy and Kara remains to be seen.

Here’s How ‘The Flash’ Will Visit ‘Supergirl’ in CBS Crossover http://variety.com/2016/tv/news/the-flash-supergirl-crossover-spoilers-poster-plot-1201726315/
Titled “Worlds Finest,” the hour sees titular heroine Kara (Melissa Benoist) gain a new ally when the lightning-fast superhero The Flash, aka Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) suddenly appears from an alternate universe. Barry helps Kara battle Silver Banshee, aka Siobhan Smythe (Italia Ricci), and Livewire (Brit Morgan) in exchange for her help in finding a way to return him home. The Scarlet Speedster already has some experience with alternate universes, having paid a visit to Earth-2 — another version of our world, albeit with some striking differences — in Season 2 of the CW series. During that trip, “The Flash” teed up the impending crossover by including a shot of Benoist’s Supergirl while Barry traveled through the breach between worlds, hinting at a larger DC Comics multiverse that offered endless possibilities on infinite Earths. While Supergirl and Superman don’t exist on Barry’s Earth-1 — which is set in a continuity known as the “Arrowverse,” since it encompasses all of the superhero shows spawned by The CW’s “Arrow,” including “The Flash,” “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” and animated series “Vixen” — Barry’s ability to travel through time and space means that he’s capable of paying a visit to other DC Comics-based shows (even on other networks) without disrupting anyone’s reality.Check out CBS’ newly-released poster for the crossover episode below, which is an homage to DC’

‘Supergirl’ Cast And Execs Talk Feminism, Gay Characters & ‘The Flash’ Crossover – PaleyFest https://www.yahoo.com/tv/supergirl-cast-execs-talk-feminism-051030745.html
A question from Twitter asked about including LGBT characters on the show. “There’s no immediate plans to do that right now,” Berlanti said. Jordan then suggested that his character Winn Schott should be gay. Berlanti acknowledges that “these shows work best when they really reflect our entire society. We always want to keep adding to the characters and the cast and adding people so that everyone can watch the show and see some piece of themselves. I think what’s really always rewarding is when people watch the show and see some piece of themselves in a character that they wouldn’t think they’d have that much in common with.”On why he chose The Flash to be the first comic book crossover character on Supergirl, Berlanti said: “We needed to create a way to do it. We had to introduce Superman since you’ve heard about him and you’ve heard about Supergirl, but in worlds of Arrow and Flash, they didn’t exist in that world. We introduced the multiverse in The Flash this year, and that was always our way in.” But fans shouldn’t hold their breath for a visit from the Man of Steel. “We’re so thrilled that Supergirl is our point of view,” Adler said. “We’re thrilled to continue to tell her story.”

‘Supergirl’ Promo Teases ‘The Flash’ Arrival in Crossover (Video) https://www.yahoo.com/tv/supergirl-promo-teases-flash-arrival-crossover-video-163028649.html
The first promo for the “Supergirl”-“The Flash” crossover episode teases a tense showdown between the cross-network DC Comics heroes — at least at first.Grant Gustin opens the promo as Barry Allen, making quick work of the Supergirl symbol before landing in a dark alley in National City, headquarters of Kara Zor-El, a.k.a. Supergirl (Melissa Benoist), who doesn’t look pleased at the new arrival. The episode is titled “Worlds Finest,” a nod to the old DC Comics book of the same name, and features an alternative-universe Flash showing up to help Supergirl battle villains Silver Banshee (Italia Ricci) and Livewire (Britt Morgan) in exchange for her help in finding him a way home.“If we were to ever do [a crossover], we would have to explain why no one on ‘Arrow’ or ‘Flash’ or ‘Legends’ have ever mentioned that Superman exists,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, who works on both shows, previously told TheWrap. Barry and Kara’s multiversal rift resolves that plot quandary.Rumors and speculation on potential crossovers between CBS’ “Supergirl” and The CW’s DC superhero shows, which also include “Arrow” and “Legends of Tomorrow,” swirled for months prior to the announcement in February of the Flash-Supergirl episode. The crossover episode will air on Monday, March 28. “Supergirl” airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and “The Flash” airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW. http://www.cbspressexpress.com/cbs-...a1rzz1f#ooid=94ZW4yMjE6Q5hS7gajAUV5yi4jexGu9e

"SUPERGIRL" ANNOUNCES FINALE DATE, RELEASES "MANHUNTER" PREVIEW http://www.comicbookresources.com/article/supergirl-announces-finale-date-releases-manhunter-preview
CBS has announced its season finale dates, marking Monday, April 18 for "Supergirl's" final Season 1 episode. Network CEO Les Moonves previously announced plans to renew the show, along with the rest of the series CBS launched in 2015.Additonally, the network has released a new preview for next week's episode, "Manhunter," which sees Kara dealing with the fallout of her Red Kryptonite-induced reign of terror.

Supergirl-The Flash Crossover Trailer: There’s a New Superhero in Town http://screenrant.com/supergirl-the-flash-crossover-trailer-worlds-finest/
When you stop to consider all the waffling back and forth that went on with regard to whether or not CBS’ Supergirl would find herself in the company of The CW’s The Flash or even Arrow, it seemed like no matter how loudly fans called for a cross-network crossover between the DC Television heroes, it would always be something wished for but never actually seen. But then came word the powers that be had worked a deal to allow Kara Danvers and Barry Allen a shot at an interdimensional team up.After a few weeks of assuring fans their respective crossover dreams were in fact about to come true, and even teasing the characters’ encounter via a promotional poster that evokes memories of a certain Superman comic cover, CBS issued a brief teaser in which Kara and Barry prepared to see who was faster. While that brief glimpse was likely enough to sell the crossover to even the most ardent disbeliever, it still didn’t offer up much in the way of actual details from the episode in question. Now, with only a week to go until its premiere, a full trailer for the episode has finally been made available. While it begins with the familiar “on your marks, get set, go!” of the brief teaser from before, the entire promo makes great use of the additional time it’s been given to highlight various facets of the superhero encounter. While it doesn’t go into much detail regarding the how and why of Barry’s arrival in National City, it does make it clear the appearance of the Scarlet Speedster doesn’t go unnoticed by Cat Grant – or unappreciated by Kara. For those still unsure what ‘World’s Finest’ intends to do with its two heroes, the official synopsis should offer some clarification:

Supergirl Is Bringing Another Former TV Superhero To The Show, Here's What We Know http://www.cinemablend.com/televisi...-Superhero-Show-Here-What-We-Know-126887.html
When The Flash debuted in 2014, fans were pumped that the CW drama was calling back to DC’s live-action past by bringing in actor John Wesley Shipp, who originally played The Flash in the 1990 series, to play Barry Allen’s dad, not to mention getting Mark Hamill to reprise his role as the villainous Trickster. Over on CBS, Supergirl has similarly looked back to other DC series every so often in casting characters for Season 1, and the show’s latest blast from the past is the best idea yet, as former Wonder Woman star Lynda Carter is being tapped for an extremely significant role. The surprising reveal was put forth by executive producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg during a recent screening of the upcoming crossover episode with The Flash, and while nothing is set in stone just yet, the duo are very certain it will happen. Here’s how they put it, along with what part Lynda Carter would take on.
