I don't think it's better. It's basically only putting the channel you are requesting on your cable box into the coax stream. So the rest of the space within the coax for video is not filled up by constantly streaming the channels on the system, as it currently is without switched video. If widely used, only the channel on your boxes, assuming you have many, would be put into the video side of the coax from the headend to your house, the rest of the channels not being viewed would not be put into the coax spectrum for video, saving space in theory.
