Read your owners manual, it's all there.
What receiver?
On all my DVRs (622, 721, 501), two ways:
1) Hold down the power button on the receiver for a few seconds until it resets.
2) Unplug the receiver for a few minutes & then plug it back in. I think this is a more "complete" reset.

After reading my post #2 it may come across as being to abrupt and it wasn't meant to be that way. Sorry.
Are you looking for a complete out of the box reset, which means no passwords in use or favorite channels selected or personal preferences selected then the receiver eeprom or eeproms need to be unlocked.
The receiver memory dump screen needs bringing up.
