Gentleman-I am having problems downlinking from t5 -IA5...I know that there's
a lot of transponders on that satellite i;e the church channel ,the fashion net
etc. but im unable to recieve them... I have a coolsat 4000 pro reciever with a 30"winegard dish and a invancom snh-031 lnbf .. . Initially I was recieving these
channels and then they came up " no or bad signal " with low signal percentage ... I live in zipcode (23024) and was using 37.9 n lat. / 77.8 w long.
any help with my delima would be appreiated .......

I have the same problem with the Globesat, Pittsburgh and RRsat xponders with my 1.2 meter dish! Rather low quality levels 66-70 - just above the threshold on the Coolsat. I just think that these xponders are either weak or they are "bargin basement."

Double check the L.O. is set to 9750-10600

Never been to Bumpass! (sorry)

Where in the hell is Bumpass, VA. I live outside of Richmond and have not heard of it. EDIT - Looked on the map and found it...very small town between Richmond and Fredericksburg - WAY out in the country...probably a nice quite place. :yes

You have to peak the dish. The best way is to invest in a cheapie $20 satellite meter and use that to adjust with. Even with an excellent compass and an inclinometer it's almost impossible to accurately aim the dish. You bump the dish a bit and the signal is gone. With a meter you know that you are dead on.

BTW nothing at all wrong with a quality of 60-70..in fact that's excellent. With a mpeg signal you can get 100% watchability with a 35% quality at times. It's not a bargain transponder or anything of the sort. Every transponder has a "budget" and it's set in decibles. Depending on the end user they adjust the power upward or downward. That's why some of the network and reporter feeds are hard to get because they are not designed for us with a 1 meter dish but are instead going to a headend somewhere with a 3 meter KU dish or larger.

I am having trouble finding the intelsat 5. I'm looking for a FTA channel, bvn (dutch) that is on the following settings; TP 11, Freq 11.929, Sym 22,000, FEC 3/4, Vertical.

I'm using a pansat 700HC receiver, Xtreme digital KU band single lnbf (0.3db), and a wineguard 30" dish. My zip code is 22032.

I noticed one thing on my receiver, under 'lnb configuration', I can set a high and a low LO, what should I input there?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

I couldn't help myself....but...BUMPASS!. You should get your town to rename itself to dishnetwork and get some free tv subs(AKA their contest, if its still on). This is a perfect candidate. Whats your newspapers name "The Bumpass Browniefilm". LOL, sorry, I just couldn't help myself.

On a serious note, hope you get T5 peaked. Its actually a refreshing change to regular TV. You never know what your going to find on T5. Lots of odd sports (i.e., cricket) in arabic and farsi, but who needs color commentary anyways.

One more question, I have only one receiver hooked up, do I turn the LNB power on or off (on the receiver menu)?

Thanks.

On You would use this option if you had two or more receivers. Only one should power the LNB

I was having as hell of a time finding IAS5, and then I discovered I didn't have the correct down frequency. As soon as I changed it from 20.000 MHz to 22.000MHz, there it was.

So doublecheck your frequencies!

Thanks guys ,,I think I've gotten a handle on it now ,,,really do appreciate your help,,,'even the wise guys, making fun at my home town' (smile) special thanks to Arion, your advice was very helpful................pagej5
