The Galaxy S IIIS: how Samsung copies Apple by copying itself

This is absurd as a premise.

Maybe but I think it speaks for itself and it's easy to see that's what it looks like they are going to do. Which is fine that's their choice I think it will do well for them it has for Apple.

So:

Significant software updates with truly new and unique features
New CPU technology
Upgraded screen size and resolution

Are copying itself?

This is why the premise is absurd.

They both do that with the same device yes they do make changes so forth hardware software but usually there not big of enough differences but how they do it will the same device over and over will be the same. Common factor is how they are doing it like Apple does it will their main only device now Samsung going to market their main device the Galaxy in the same manner. Some Samsung fans might not like but that's what they are doing.I would not be surprised that we don't see the Galaxy S5 sometime next year but hey it's working for them right now so why not I think it will do well for them for awhile. Just my 2 cents. :)

Come on people, how unique is a big-screen smart phone gonna be?

The iPhone 4/4S with its brushed metal frame was the first unique style in years!
...and Apple Just threw it away. :(
The 5's styling makes the 4's look dated - not a good idea.

Reaching back in history for phone families that kept to a constant look through many generations, remember Motorola:
- flip phones with the external slide-on battery
- Startac phones
- RAZR handsets

Of course Samsung should stick with their design.
People like it and are used to seeing it (however plain it may be).
They have a lot of advertising dollars invested in that shape.
Why take a chance on something new?

More importantly, why obdolete a hot-selling model?
Lets milk another years production out of the S3! :up ;)
You can bet some carriers will offer it free (on contract) this summer.

To one degree or another, your points could all be made about the iPhone 5, and yet plenty of Android fans panned it as more of the same. So, from that perspective, the premise isn't all that absurd.

Some of this is endemic in the tech industry.

Never mind the car and the CE industry.

Main point here is that they are doing the same thing that one of their main competitors are doing which is Apple but like many have said just funny to see them doing when a couple months ago they were making fun of them in their Ads. So that's what everyone is pointing out is all so like I said it nothing new many do this so it is what it is. :)

And it's not even summer...

This week on Los Angeles TV, Sprint is offering $100 off any handset, if you port your number.
Then they go on to point out that makes the Samsung Galaxy 3 a free phone! ;)

That's a pretty good offer, if I wanted to go to Sprint. HTC gave me $100 for my old HTC Inspire when I bought the HTC One.

Plus I bought it at Costco. They had it for $160, so my net cost is only $60! Plus AT&T screwed up my original order with them so they credited me $36 to cover the normal upgrade fee.
