Hey guys really thinking about leaving Dish and comin on over. Now after seeing Direct has MRV its really got me contemplating the move. I do have some questions I know you guys can answer for me
1. I have a total of 4 tv's. 2 of which are non HD. If I have sd recievers on them can I still have dvr capabilities on these tv's?
2. If I hook up a EHD can I view its recordings on all four tv's?
3.If im recording something on a tv can I view live tv on the same tv?
4.Does Direct still require 2 coaxial cables for the HD DVR? or do they use a splitter like D does for the 722?
5.Whats the quality like if your viewing something on VOD?

Thanks for all the help

Whole house DVR service (MRV) is one of the best things DirecTV has come out with to date. Here are the answers to your questions:

1. I have a total of 4 tv's. 2 of which are non HD. If I have sd recievers on them can I still have dvr capabilities on these tv's? Yes, but you will need HD receivers or HD DVR's to use MRV. MRV works between HD boxes only with one exception of the R22 which is not available anymore. You can use an HD receiver with an SD TV. I do on two of mine....with plans to change the TV's out soon. You could also use SD DVRs on the SD TV's, but again, MRV would not work.

You need a minimum of one HD receiver and one HD DVR to qualify for MRV. The HD Receiver can view recorded content on the DVR's and schedule recordings. The more DVR's the better IMHO....more recording capacity.

2. If I hook up a EHD can I view its recordings on all four tv's?Yes, if all receivers are HD
3.If im recording something on a tv can I view live tv on the same tv?Absolutely, two tuner DVR's allow you to record two programs at the same time while you watch a prerecorded program or watch one live and record one.
4.Does Direct still require 2 coaxial cables for the HD DVR? or do they use a splitter like D does for the 722?Not with SWiM technology. One cable to each DVR still allows the use of both tuners
5.Whats the quality like if your viewing something on VOD?Video on Demand has programming in 1080P on down. The quality is superb.

Hope that helps!
