how to adjust H-H motor and dish offset angle to match elevation

HI, I live in new york. Latitude 40.801116 n Longitude 73.937098 w
my true south is74.0°W SBS 6 .
Here is my system sg2100 motor with winguard2076 76cm dish, asc321(0.5 db) ku band lnbf from dms,Traxis DBS2500 .
I caught telstar 5 and telstar 6 with my motor elevation set to 49 and it happen
to be that the limit of the dish offset is around 19 on winguard dish. so i set to 19, how can i calculate the elevation angle to meet the statellite el angle and how to convert them?
I only got those 2 bird telstar 5 93° w and telstar 6 97° w so far.
How can i get the Galaxy 13 127.0W ?
Thanks in advance.
:yes

I would go back to the SG2100 manual.....

Your Lat.=41 deg. Motor angle=49 deg. Dish elev.= 23.6 deg. (dev.= 6.4)

Then try to find SBS6 again. (True South)

Never touch the motor elevation, the dish elevation can be moved slightly up or down to peak the signal and you are done!

Good Luck!

thanks, peter. I tried motor elevation 49 deg , dish elev. 23.6 deg. as U suggest.

I could not get the SBS6 and G13. When i set the dish elev. to 23.6, I lost the telstar 6 and t5.

But when i set the dish elev. 19 something approximately 20. I could get t5 and t6, G13 signal quality is peak between 40 to 43. I tried so many time to get the sbs6 and G13, I failed.

I know Elevation of t5 for me is 37.2 deg. true south of t5 is 213.1.
G13 is 18.8 deg. true south of g13 is 243.8 .
18.8-37.2=-29.4 w=29.4 E 243.8-213.1=30.9 w

It is almost 30 difference between those 2 birds in terms of their angle .

I just learn from your suggestion motor elev. is fixed 49 deg.

I wonder if you can tell me if there is a way to calculate dish elev. depends on the statellite elev. angle.

Thanks again! Your help is greatly appreciated!

I live in New York city, Latitude 40.801116 n Longitude 73.937098 w

Declination = 13° 18' W changing by 0° 2' E/year

74.0°W SBS 6 (true south)

I could only get G3c and Telstar5 ,T6. I could not get G13

My true south is 213.1 for T5 ,Elev. is 37.2 deg. for T5

My true south is 243.8 for G13, Elev. is 18.8 deg. for G13

Is there any chance I could catch G13?

I learn a lot from you guys.

Thanks in advance.

30 deg. - Declination Angle

Sounds like the mast/pole is not exactly plumb and level, or there is a line of sight issue.
I would remove the dish and ensure the mast/pole is exactly plumb and level all round. Take into account the weight of the motor and dish as they pull the mast/pole forward.
Its always best to use your true south satellite to line up a motor, USALS can help but you do not have that right now with the Traxis, so it may take a bit longer.

I would also try to find your true south satellite without the motor just to make sure before you waste any more time trying to find it with the motor on!

Everyone only has one true south satellite, yours is SBS6. (74w)
Try to keep all your posts in this thread so we can help you better, thanks : )

Thanks again,P.

The mast/pole is almost plumb I assume.

BTW, I got 5 options in traxis
Continue move (west/east)
step move
store position
set limit
goto refrence

Is that goto refrence is the one motor automatically adjust the position due True North ?

I want to know if 23.6 deg. is the angle u suggest base on my Latitude?

site latitude elev. angle decl. angle dish bracket angle

41 49 6.4 23.6

Thanks for the info U provided above, did u get that from satfinder?
:yes

Yes, use Goto reference when you have peaked in your true south satellite, it will help you find a few satellites but the rest may have to be found the old fashioned way (enter a live TP. move dish until you see signal quality)

I used your latitude and checked the manual Elevation and Declination Angle table to get 23.6 deg. as the dish elevation (approximately).

How can i save the true south position to motor?

I'm sorry to ask you this silly question because there's nothing in the motor and receiever manual.

Thank you so much for ur patient help! :yes

Yes, but it may not work with all satellites. I have tried it a few times and it did not work that well but I did find 3-4 satellites with it, that should get you started. Easier to work out what way to motor when you know where you are in the arc.
