I noticed that Turner South is available in HD (I was watching the highlights of the Braves game on ESPN HD). The only Turner South channel I get is on channel 437 I believe. My question to you all is what channel is TS HD and how can I get it? I already have an OTA, so I'm able to watch the Braves home games in HD, but I'd like to watch them on TS HD if possible. Also, does anyone know if Fox Sports Net here in Atlanta broadcasts the Braves in HD? If so, what channel? Thanks for the help!

Turner South and the Fox Sports Net are on OTA channels, so you will not pick them up that way. They are also not available on E* yet. If you want them in HD you either have to 1) Wait till E* provides them or 2) Check with your local cable company to see if they offer them.

First I've heard of Turner South HD, but regardless, Dish doesnt have it. So far, they aren't adding any of the Regional Sports Networks' HD channels. That channel does have other non-sports content so it may show up someday, but right now Dish is still pretty slow in adding new HD channels.

I live in Buford, Georgia. I noticed this too earlier in the year on Baseball Tonight on ESPN HD. The game was on Turner South and the highlights on ESPN were in HD.

Braves home games on TBS are broadcast OTA in HD. I believe that when the home games are on Turner South, they use the same TBS HD cameras (since it's all Turner). But since there is no Turner South HD, they downrez it.

I'm not sure if this holds true for FSN South. Personally, I hope the new ownership can reorganize the TV deal and get the Braves back primarily on TBS so we can see it in HD! Also, note that whenever the Braves are on the road, the TBS games are not HD. I guess they leave the HD cameras at home.

That does make sense.

Good to know I wasn't the only one who noticed that.

Well since Turner has rights to the Braves he migth put a feed of the game on ESPNHD but also roll it over to another channel like TurnerSouth. So basically they could show the game on both channels.

For those who don't know. Turner South is now part of Fox Sports Network and will be transitioning into a Fox Sports South 2 type channel. The only thing shown in HD is Braves home games.

Braves HD

The Atlanta Braves home games that are broadcast on Turner South are carried on a special channel on most area cable systems in HD along with the TBS home games. If you are not on one the these cable systems the Braves home games broadcast on TBS are shown in HD OTA. The home games that I receive from TBS OTA are great! I hope that E* works out arrangements to carry available sports events from regional networks in HD. This is one area that the Cable Systems now have an advantage over E* and D*.
