Uhf Remote

I have a R15-500 dvr which appears to be capable of using the UHF remote, It has a port for the antenna. I asked the "heads" at DirectTV about it and was told only the HD receivers will work with the UHF remote. This seems to be way behind the times technologically speaking. I had Dish 501 way back 8 or so years ago that was UHF equipped. Really miss that as I got used to not pointing the remote at the reciever. You think they could make this work or they just don't care?

The RF capable remotes will work with the R15, but they never enabled the software tutorial to explain how to program the remote.

If you use the same steps as listed on the HD boxes, but use the last 6 numbers of the reciever id, the r15 will function in RF mode. I have done it, and it works just fine.

My box must be stupid. Tried to program using instructions that came with the UHF remote and it didn't work. I guess it's the same for the HD sets.

You need a RF remote and antenna. You can tell if the remote is RF or not by the FCC sticker on the back of the remote.
