I have a Dish VIP622 DVR and a Dish 1000 antenna. I would like to get my locals in hd and I understand I would have to upgrade to a Dish 1.k4 antenna. I like in 25550 zip code. I would like to do this as a self install would I have to run any more cable to do this or could I just use the cable that is already there? Would this be a hard to do install? Any info would be helpful.

Thanks,
BruceE

Same cables.

$15 plus a little bit of your time and this would be easily accomplished by a certified technician. That $15 also includes the materials required.

Why don't you tell him he has to pay out every month for a service plan he may not want in order to get that $15 price? Otherwise it's a hundred bucks.

That's the second time this week I've seen you give inaccurate info to someone here......

Do it yourself, Bruce......

Hi Bruce, the 1000 antenna is not enough information for me to answer this question. Do you know what satellites you have? 119,110? Are you getting any HD right now? If you want to PM your account info to me so I can check your local HD feed, I would be happy to. I cannot access that information using zip codes. Once I have determined what you have, I can advise what you need to do to get what you want! Thanks!

Do like every other cheap person does. Buy the service plan, use it and drop it a few months later. I like how people are so butt hurt about the service plan. I'm a Dish Tech and I pay the $6 a month for the service plan.

This guy is coming onto a forum and asking if he can use the same cables that his current dish uses for the next dish. Why would I give him any advice at all on how to assemble, install and integrate a k4 system? Whats next? "I heard this k4 dish uses super powers and can shoot through trees"....People never cease to amaze me.

I would love it if he doesn't unplug his receiver when doing this dish swap, it arcs and he smokes his hard drive. Then he will call dish, say his receiver is messing up and probably end up paying the $95 service fee to get that new receiver. Equipment replacement is covered under the service plan.

I am not trying to be rude, just simply saying that some things should be left to professionals.

And here I thought that many of us were here to help each other.

Looks like the OP has access to 110/119/129 as his local market (Charleston, WV) is on 129 for SD locals.
His HD locals are on 77W so he needs a Eastern Arc dish or a wing dish (EA might be easier)

Bruce
You would not need any more cables. All you do is swap the D1000 for a D1000.4 (Eastern Arc dish). Run one cable to the 622 and use the separator on the back. Rerun check switch and watch TV

Do you have any switches right now in the setup?

Iceberg,
I do have a DPP44 multi dish switch outside at my current dish. Is there anymore info that you need.
Thanks,
Bruce

Sounds like you have one of the old D1000 dishes.

When you swap to the Eastern Arc (1000.4) dish you would not need the DPP44 switch. You can still use one line from the LNB to the receiver (and the separator at the back of the receiver)
