Even while much of Ionia county has had restoration of electric service way ahead of estimates, other parts are still in the dark this evening. It has come to the attention of WION that a shelter has been put in place at Ionia high school by the red cross. You need not bring anything, though your own pillow and blanket are welcome for a warm and safe place to sleep. Cots are provided, and food is available, too. Simple and free registration upon arrival, with quiet time observed from 10 pm to 6 am. Please do not try to “tough it out” if you need heat and a safe place to sleep. The Ionia high school on Tuttle road is open as a shelter, manned by the red cross. If you have neighbors or friends in need of this information, please pass it along.
