I will be going out of town for a few months and am going to put my account on 'dish pause'. My question is can you watch the recordings on the hopper while on pause? Reason I ask is a friend will coming over daily to walk my dogs and I didnt want to tell him he could watch a recording only to find out you cant. Any help would appreciated. thanks!

As far as I know , you can watch the shows by just hitting the dvr button. But I always unhooked the sat connection so they couldn't deliver the kill signal to my dvr. I tried this when I had to replace my old 722k that was crapping out and I couldn't transfer any recordings to my external hard drive. My wife had several shows on the old 722k and she watched them before I shipped the defective receiver back.

It's a no. You might get a few days of watching but I wouldn't count on anything.
