Since I sold my AZBox (to a good guy here at SG) I have decided to try out a dedicated PC for my TT-3200 DVB card. Wanted something strong to view DVB-S2 HD 4:2:0/4:2:2 without any lagging. So I purchased everything locally at fry's for great prices. With the exception of the Case which I got from Craigslist

Here is what it consists of.

Thermaltake LANBOX Lite VF6000BWS
Intel i3 540
Gigabyte GA-H55M-S2H
OCZ DDR3 PC3-12800 / 1600 MHz /Gold Edition
Windows XP PRO
1TB 7200 SATA HDD
Technotrend TT-3200

Got this case to be able to go from my Living room to my home office room where I also have a coax coming in from the 1.2m dish with dual KU LNB.

What do you guys think about this setup?

Nice case! First I thought its a new Microwave model with blue lights. :)

If you want to add extra components or do some refinements, the thread Guide to Building a HD HTPC may be of some help. It offers up-to-date suggested HTPC configurations among other things, and of course there are similar publications and reviews on major component review & testing sites.

Some good info there, thanks and thanks for the microwave cheer.. hehe

Zamar23, that was a nice link!!

Oh and chose XP since a good member here told me its more stable then VISTA/WIN7

Very nice! Are you using onboard video? you'll have to post your results. something i may actually copy you on!

Yea ama use the on board see how well it does. Hopefully it will be built soon (by me) and post results .

I think its nice, but like zamar, I really think its a microwave LOL. Is that a little tiny "Amana" on the corner?
Kidding aside, looks like a promising pile of parts, now get busy! We want to know..

well pro96. first off thanks for the azbox, actually many thanks. im pushing its limits as i write this and it really is a sff linux based pc. its the reason it can do 4:2:2 video. i can play any type of pc file i throw at it and it compliments my home media network very well. i still enjoy my htpc tho. i have a multi tuner c/ku mythbuntu setup. ive tried tons of pc tuners. my bet at the moment is on the prof tuners. ive seen movement on the v4l source tree making linux based s2 htpcs a reality. there is also talk of windows based blind scan (manufacturer based) and linux blind scan (pendragon source confirmed) avenues this card can pursue. the newer dvbworld cards are imature (i own the 2006 pcie card) and the tbs 6920 also has imature s2 drivers. the nova-s, twinhan 1027, digiwave cards can no longer compete. my genpix sk-1 is still usable in some form. but honestly the prof tuners look the most promising.

most onboard video solutions these days support hdmi. its a one cable solution and video is hardware accelerated in 9 outta 10 cases.

thanks again for the azbox.

crackt out,.

OK the Microwave DVB box should be ready hopefully this weekend. I ordered a new "green" power supply (from Newegg) as the one the box came with was a bit too loud for my taste.

I have already put it together minus the PS. Here are some snaps for ya'll to see.
BTW: I have the case with no window, and I posted an image with the side window.
Got it from craigslist for $20.00, not too bad of a price.

expect one as early as tomorrow pal.. that is if the PS from Newegg arrives via UPS :D

get yourself a Blu-ray player while you're at it! not to mention AnyDVD by Slysoft & VLC Media Player. there won't be any format, PAL or NTSC, you won't be able to play pretty soon!

The power supply arrived today, great service from Newegg (one day free shipping via ground)
So it looks like this weekend will be testing the MicroDVBbox

if your going to add blu ray or hddvd capabilty.... be prepared for a windows based machine. linux is not well suited to handling that content...

Well I was gonna run Windows XP Pro for the DVB side of it. I can always do a dual boot or even triple boot too (WinXP Win7 Mac OSX) :D

I really like that case that is danged awesome...I might have to check into one of those myself! Good choice on OP system too...

Looks like the MicroDVBboz is catching on here, nice :D

OK question for you know it all about DVB cards. Can I get DVB-S2 4:2:0/4:2:2 SD/HD with MAC OS X? If so, which versions are supported?
