What does this sentence mean in the HR10-250 manual?

"Due to copyright restrictions, you may not be able to view some high-definition programs in high-definition format using the HD DVR."

Can someone further expand on this statement, which is located on the sidebar on page 164 of the HR10-250 manual? I ordered this unit, and my assumption was that I could watch all HD material whether it came from an OTA antenna or from DirecTV. However, this sentence has me just a little concerned.
