I've got a lead on a 1.8 m offset dish that was used by a school to pick up KET Star Channel. The info I've gotten on Star Channel is that it was broadcast on L Band.

Would I need to get a new LNB for this dish to pick up C Band?

Edit: Star Channel was broadcast on GE 1 (AMC 1) at a frequency of 1073.75 MHz.

The L Band refers to the frequency range of 950 MHz to 1450 MHz. It is the result of the downconversion of the received downlink satellite signals (C, Ku or Ka) by the LNBDC (Low-noise block converter).

I wonder if the LNB is one polarity only? I've seen specialized LNB's like that where they are designed for one polarity only

I don't know anything about it yet. It's still on top of the school, and I have to wait until maintenance takes it down before I can inspect it.
