After fine tuning / adjusting my 12 Ft Mesh Dish I finally captured the PBS Channels on AMC-21 125.0W for the first time yesterday. My question is that the Best Quality I can get for 2 Tp's is 40 and for 2 others Q = 60. Is this normal or what levels of Q should I be getting?

Which receiver are you using? I noticed you have a couple, and each receiver will show a different Q reading. I don't have either of the receivers you are using (VS Extreme or AZBox)...

I can get 12180 with Q=71 on a Solomend with an 18" dish. (Hardly a trace of other transponders, though, mostly the big encrypted mux once in a while.) But, like Tron said, you can't compare Q levels across receivers at all.

Absolutely perfect conditions with a clear sky.
All PBS signals including feeds at 100% Q except Montana which is 90%
Threshold for picture breakup is 30% except on LPS which for some strange reason is 80%, haven't figured that one out yet.

On my AZBox Ultra (and a 80cm dish) clear sky:
12072 - 59
12113 - 78
12140 - 75
12180 - 84

Dish slightly bumped to the west to increase Montana PBS (didn't really help much) only noticed a slight loss on 12072 (but it still comes in well and rarely lose it at night).

On my 6ft LNB741 dish plus AZBox Ultra i get
12072 - 46
12113 - 78
12140 - 80
12180 - 90
others
11978 - 80
12094 - 70
12103 - 60
12148 - 40
12161 - 52
12167 - 46
12173 - 46
I seem to have good luck with s2 stuff on this sat.

Tron currently using the AZbox. Looks like need to do more tweaking as my current results on AMC -21 are as follows:

TP Pol S Q
11980 V 66 60
12103 V 61 39
12112 V 63 54
12140 V 65 56
12150 H 64 36
12161 H 61 42
12169 H 61 41
12175 H 61 40
12179 V 64 58

Thats the West side maybe need to check for 63.0W SCETV channels on KU Band on the East side before doing any Major adjustments?

Here are my results for comparison. Keep in mind, of course, that there will be differences due to equipment variations and location as well as dish alignment.

AZBox Premium Plus readings using a 1.2 M GeoSatPro dish and QPH-031 Invacom LNBF:

Jsattv, if the AZBox has a meter that reacts similarly to the Visionsat, some of those readings definitely seem a bit low. If you can take the receiver and a portable monitor out to the dish, it will aid in tweaking the aim. Grab the edges of the dish and gently push the dish East-West, then up and down. Observe the quality readings when you do this, and adjust the dish in the direction of maximum quality.

Thanks Radar & Tron, I'll use Radar's Tp S & Q specs for 125.0W as a Benchmark when I tweak the Inclination a bit on the Dish, but first I'm going to see if 63.0W (SCETV) on KU Band is within limits. So far 97.0W is good with most Tp Q Levels in the 80's and even some in 90's. And everything from 87.0W up to 121.0W is looking okay. NASA HQ 1 - 4, & NASA HD on 87.0W AMC- 3 is a bit lower with Q = 73 - but I think someone previously mentioned it was lower than usual, other Tp's on that Satellite for me are coming in with Q = 100 for Tp 3824, and a Tp 4081 = 96.

JsatTV,

I just happened to recheck my signal quality this morning. Here is a sample of the improved performance when the sky is perfectly clear and not drizzly/overcast and windy. Every TP showed marked improvement (except for 12096, not sure what happened there).

11980 VER 29997 KS/s DVB-S2/QPSK FEC 1/2 SL 65% Q 82% clear 92%

12072 HOR 16664 KS/s DVB-S2/QPSK FEC 1/2 SL 63% Q 62% clear 76%
