On the Direct TV board it is posted that new or existing customers will get six months of the hdtv package for free with the commitment of one year. It says the first six months is free then they will pay the regular price of 10.99 for the next six months.

Will dish have anything to offer us? This might cause some people to switch to direct with the current nfl sunday ticket package they are offering right now. plus you can get the hdtv package for free for six months?

Come on Dish, don't let us down.

Umm nothing, Their package is already a dollar cheaper and has an additional channel and probably another channel to come, plus you don't have to shell out $300 for an HD system

Actually DirecTV is adding Bravo HD+ plus is rumored to be adding TNT-HD and also are close to announcing a few other HD additions.

Yes, as long as a new directv system is $300 for a new customer, switching will be difficult. While the extra $44 (pay year in advance with dish) in savings in switching to directv would be nice, it is not enough to offset the new receiver price.

Depending on the CSR or retention person you get, you usually can get the HD receiver for much less.

Not to trash talk DISH or anything, but the Hughes HTL-HD receiver has been GREAT so far, and doesn't have the issues that the 811 has.

Scott, If you or one of your guys can get through for the chat today, can you ask Charlie or Jim if they plan on offering anything to Dish Subs?
