I'm waiting to see how people in northern Maine, for example are going to go to WA
WA does work there, minus 129.

Interesting and makes sense. I fear that hooking people up with high-speed internet will cause more people to move to streaming, in effect, cannibalizing themselves - unless they have an ulterior planIf the 2029 EA cut off date is accurate, I have to wonder if Dish is working on a "full package" streaming service offering all of the usual Dish channels. It could be an expansion of Sling TV, or an entirely new package, but I don't see Dish completely abandoning the many EA subscribers that have no WA view. An expanded streaming service could even be step one of a plan that completely abandons sat delivered programming eventually now that they have the Starlink tie in to cover those remote area that used to be pretty much Dish and DTV's domain. Then again, it's Charlie, so who knows what he might have up his sleeve along with an ace or two left over from his Vegas days.
If I recall, it was DISH that decided to move channels around to free up Sats years ago that caused this.I'm waiting to see how people in northern Maine, for example are going to go to WA
I would think the ulterior plan might be to move to all streaming at some point given the decline in DBS viewership.Interesting and makes sense. I don't know of any reason the existing Hopper series couldn't do that since it all ready has some streaming apps on board. Have you tried any of the Dish like streaming services like YTTV, etc. that are very similar to the Dish user interface? When I switched from Dish to all streaming, of course there was a learning curve, just as there was when I switched from cable TV to Dish. Currently, about 80% of my TV watching is on YTTV, with the balance spread over a few apps that carry specific programming not available on YTTV, or Dish for that matter, in most cases. What is the technical reason why DISH can't just use their existing receivers and format but let the internet deliver the signal instead of through satellite? Would it require too much bandwidth? I love the Hopper interface and can't stand the boondoggle of streaming devices and apps.
I've tried Roku, Firestick, ONN, Apple TV, Android and they are all a pia to find something to watch, changing from one app to another. Each app and each device have a different method of handling dvr playback. Every app tries to throw crap at me that I'm not interested in, just clogging the main screen with unnecessary clutter.
I hope Charlie is coming up with something to keep the Hopper in the mix when satellites go away.I don't know of any reason the existing Hopper series couldn't do that since it all ready has some streaming apps on board. It shouldn't be all that hard to come up with a multi-channel app with an interface similar to the Hopper. Using the existing Hopper base of course, would remove the need to replace any hardware for the change over.I hope Charlie is coming up with something to keep the Hopper in the mix when satellites go away.
I think that is already in the cards.I hope Charlie is coming up with something to keep the Hopper in the mix when satellites go away.
I hope so. You never know, maybe prices will come down since Dish won't have to pay all them there programing fees. Then lots of customers will come back to Dish TV service.I think that is already in the cards.![]()
Going from Sat Channels to Streaming Channels won't change your price, they Still have to pay for the channel regardless of how it's delivered.I hope so. If you are on EA and there are trees blocking WA, Dish will send you a chain saw.
What will they send when it's a building blocking your WA sat view?If you are on EA and there are trees blocking WA, Dish will send you a chain saw.
Maybe by then they will have Sling TV looking more like DISH interface and when they move to just Western arc instead of both arcs ,they can switch them to DISH by Sling streaming service, using the satellite receivers they already have. I think SLING should look like DISH anyway and it would be so much easier to use. Like Directv allows you to use the same interface for both the satellite and streaming versions. Then it wouldn't make any difference if you had either east or western arcs.If the 2029 EA cut off date is accurate, I have to wonder if Dish is working on a "full package" streaming service offering all of the usual Dish channels. Why would you believe Dish would not have to pay programming fees, if they went streaming?I hope so. You never know, maybe prices will come down since Dish won't have to pay all them there programing fees. Then lots of customers will come back to Dish TV service.
EA is perfect. Neighbor won't agree to tree removal to get WA.Jon,
IF your in Nashville, shouldn't you have access to Both Eastern and Western Arcs ?
I had thought the EA was much more imminently disbanding and that they were going to be doing a combination of cx moves to the now 129-less WA, streaming conversion and accepting some shutoffs. I mean they aren't doing any new EA activations, are they?Last word we got was 2029
