Hi,

I have a Channel Master 48" - Standard FSS Dual LNBI, KUL2 being offered to me. I'm a newbie and need to know what a reasonable price for this would be. It's not being used and I'll try to get it for free, but need to know it's market value in case I can't. I plan to use it for FTA C and K band.

Thanks for the help!

I once came across one at a used/retail store where they thought it was worth $250. I disagree with that. If it isn't free, I'd pay up to $75. That's sort of an arbitrary number, however. If you compare it against the cost of a new one plus shipping, it's way low. It might be worth more to the buyer if that was the only other option.

You won't get much, if any, C band on it. It's way small.

Well, a new 4' dish from one of our Gold Sponsors would be around $125, plus LNB, plus outrageous shipping.
And quite frankly, I'd prefer the ChannelMaster dish at equal prices.
But, new it would probably cost more.

I agree with USDownlink in that it's worth whatever you and the seller agree on.
Depends on how bad you need/want it.
I prize them highly, but would turn purple before spending over $50 on it.
... and certainly hope you get it for free. - :up

It'll get you a little C-band, that's for sure.
But, it's no substitute for a real BUD.
Just make sure you have realistic expectations.
For Ku, it might even be considered overkill, but it'll certainly do the job!
Just a bit big to motorize - so think about the biggest, best, motor you can find.
Also, since it's so large, be sure to mount it where the wind won't whip it off its mount! -

Edit: Oh, you say it doesn't have the stock LNB and feedhorn?
Well, that's bad news. I'd use that as leverage to talk the seller down right there! ;)
But if he's bothered to put on a different LNB, he probably knows the worth of a 4' dish.

Best of luck.
When you get it, post us some pictures. :)

Thanks for the feedback. I picked up a 10' mesh dish a couple of weeks back and will use it for C band. It'll be awhile before I can get either of them up and running - they a ways down on the project stack behind the garden and finishing some other projects I've already started. If I can't get it for free I won't go over $50 on it - takes some of the fun out of it!

Also, I wonder if you saw this thread about some 48" dishes available in Texas?

Don't know the facts, but it might be worth your effort to find out. - :up
And if you go there, regardless of whether you buy or not, get a picture of the guy's collection! -

Thanks Anole. One of the repliers asked where the guy is located - will check it out if it's near Austin.
