Which Bird are the MPEG 4 L.A. Locals on

I currently have a Dish 500 at 110 & 119 and another Dish pointing at 148.

I am considering upgrading my 811 to 622 so that I can have the upcoming Los Angeles Local HD stations.

Question #1) Are the L.A. Mpeg4 Local HD Stations going to be carried on the 129?

Question #2) Do you think they will repoint my 148 to 129, or will I get a DISH 1000, a DPP 44, and keep my other Dish pointed at 148? Or will they take down my 148, and just give me the 1000?

I was told by my Dish 1000 installer that all HD was going to be on the 129 bird.
I'm pretty sure that they'll simply swap out you 2 dishes for 1 dish 1000. Just put the request in when you call the CSR's. Or simply remove your 148 dish before the installer arrives.

What I was told by a CS was that you'll get the DISH 1000 plus the 148 (if you want the 3 must carry locals that are on 148).

Hard to tell at this point. They are being tested there now on channels 9970-9973 tranponders 8 and 19. (see http://www.dishchannelchart.com) However they could be moved anywhere at any time until they actually launch.

To keep all the programming you have now and get new HD you will need your Dish 500 replaced with a Dish 1000. You still need the dish at 148° to get all your locals and additional programming available there.

Good point so am I correct in saying that those other must carries are not mirrored on 129 are they?


Will they install and charge me extra for the DPP 44?

I would prefer to have a DPP44 for free, this so I don't have to fish another COAX

Perhaps some one else here knows the answer to that question. I don't know the particulars about installations.
