I live outside Columbia, SC. I hear that we will someday be getting local HD and I am not sure which sat the locals will be coming from. I hear some markets are getting their locals off 118.7. I also heard that the 118.7 has taken over the 121 sat for international.

500+ (119, 118.7,110,129), 1000 (119, 110, 129), or the 1000.2 (119, 110,129), or a 500 with 61.5?

Thanks
The 500+ only sees 110/118.7 &119.
The 1000.2 replaces the 1000 and the 500 with 61.5 sees 110/119 and 61.5 so it comes down to the programming you need/are subscribing to. If DISH moves/adds programming from another location they have in the past offered free upgrades.:)

the only difference between a 500+ and a 1000+ attaching a DP Dual to the LNB assembley at the dish.

If you order now, DISH will only install what is needed for the programming you selected.

As what boba said with free upgrades;

Placing a dish such as a Dish 500, may not be suitable for the same as a 500+/1000+ it's good to plan for the future. Going on 500 to plus upgrades for customers are more or less complete re-installs - dish relocated - re-route/replace all wiring - change point of entry. It's good to keep this in mind. One reason I favor brick wall & pole mounts.

Chances are you'll have to pay to have the old dish de-installed, that's not part of an upgrade.

For the average power user, I would think Over-The-Air antenna with a Dish 500 119/110, Dish 500 61.5.

Then again I don't know your specific area, so I can't recommend anything specific.

boba, the 500+ dish also has the adaptability to add the 129 (another dual LNB). I was only asking what might be the best route to go just in case of an upgrade. I just put a wingard antenna up today and the locals are very weak from Columbia w/o the amplifier. If the locals come on the 118.7, this might be the best way to go. This way, if the locals come on 118.7, I would have the best of all worlds (119, 118,7, 110, & 129). With the 500+, all I would have to do is add a 44 switch (which I already have) and wouldn't have to change anything. rdallas, the dish 100+ has a different LNb that kinda looks like a dtv lnb (3 lnb's in one). Thanks everyone for the responses.
