Is there anyway to tell which non-premium channels are digital and which are analog? Or are all the channels simulcast in both?

If you have a digital cable box then you should get just about everything in digital. I believe only the local access channels and lower guide channel are analog on my system (Norwalk, CT). If you don't have a cable box, just the cable into the TV, then all channels you receive are analog.

In Raritan Valley area of NJ, the analogs are 2-70 anything higher is digital and requires the box.

Yeah but if you have a digital box, anything 2-70 is simulcast in digital format, except public access and the guide channel (14).
