Why does E* want me to pay $200 to get a 722?

Ask the csr for the 722 upgrade but also ask them to give you the $10 for 10 months rebate for being a new HD subscriber. Your net cost will be $100.

I have the ill-fated SuperDish, 110, 119, 121. (I suppose at this point the 121 LNB is about useless.) It has a DP34 switch with two parallel RG6 cables all the way from the switch into the back of the 625. As you can see from that, it's old equipment, E* has spent no money on me in several years. . .

seriously.. call and ask to disco your service.. they will transfer you to an account specialist.. give them an ultimatum. give you the 722 FOR FREE or loose you as a sub... point blank. Comcast is offering some heater deals right now.

be sure to throw you being a model subscriber in their face... and you dont see why new subs get them free when current subs have to pay huge prices for the same thing.... penalizing current subs is not a good look for the company. stand your ground.

**I'm not sure if it will work.. but its worth a try, no?**

What actual dish do you have? They have that in their system and are probably including the replacement dish install in the costs. I know when I activated my purchased 622, they wanted to charge me for a Dish install which I had already taken care of.

I bet you're on to something here. I wonder if the CSR sees a list of what will be required for the HD upgrade. An additional dish could certainly factor in to make the difference I guess.

I had a Superdish and they upgraded me to HD and a 722 for $125 total. The installer was here for over an hour installing a new post, a 1000.2 dish, and trenching new cable 100 feet from the edge of my property. My DIU still says $125 installed. I'd definitely ask them what the deal is and why you appear to be a second class subscriber. Threaten to go to D* and get an account retention person.

I wonder if this is including an upgrade to a D1000 dish so you can see 129.

Without 129(or 61.5), you won't get all the HD channels.

DirecTV is giving away their DVR PLUS HBO and other free services. To top it off, they offer more HD channels with the promise of delivering HD content sometime in the not to distant to very distant future. If you have to add a new dish, what is the difference between another Dish Net dish or DirecTV dish?

You do not need to kiss VOOM free charlie's behind.

What programming package did you have, Laddyboy? See, I was wondering what would happen if I first called up and upgraded to the AEP, then see if that makes my DIU quote go down. If so, after the install, I could go back to Top200. That is, if I didn't get hooked on the AEP channels. . . Any idea if this would help?

I'm betting on this angle.

Just threaten to cancel your account. I was going to switch to cable, but stayed with Dish when they offered the 722 for 50 bucks installed and lowered what I was paying for my programming.

I called to cancel my account to switch to another service (I told them I was looking at D* to get HD for my new TV).

After several higher offers, here's what I got them to agree to:

1. Free VIP222 (I think I could have gotten a 722 if I asked for it).
2. Free installation
3. Free subscription service for 3 months (credited for $40 three times throuhout the 24 month contract)
4. Cinemax for a year ($0.01 per year)
5. No lease fees (I only have one receiver feeding 2 TVs)

I switched to a HD only package with locals so I'm actually paying substantially less than what I paid for the basic AT100 package plus locals.

Make sure to get them to summarize everything they agreed to before you hang up.

No lease fees? Are you sure that you didn't buy that 222?

I want to thank everyone for the informative replies. One last thing, when I spoke to the CSR, she said that starting in July there would be some new deals coming on upgrades, (if you believe CSRs).

I also have $150 for the 622 and $200 for the 722 show up when I go the the DIU page. I have a 1000.2 dish with a 722 already. I assume that the reason its more expensive for me is that I've only been a sub for 9 months. I am moving in a couple weeks and am adding another hdtv. I'd really like another HD DVR. Any advice on how to do both cheaper? I know I can do DishMover for free, but I'd really like to not bay $200 for a 722 and then have the lease fees. For that, I'll just go buy a $300 722 on ebay.

I'll feel free to quote myself. I called and was given a 622 for $100 (with leasing fees) along with the DishMover. I assume that the installation of the 622 is covered in the Dishmover installation. All in all not a bad deal considering I haven't been a sub for very long. I don't really need the extra storage that the 722 offers since it will be for the office/bedroom anyways and my wife will be the one to use it more (Oprah and chick flicks don't take up a lot of space).
