Why isn't nip/tuck full screen on FX?

I have a ViP622 w/ Dish and nip/tuck is a smallish box in the center of the screen with odd looking vertical side bars that are about 1" wide and take up the full length of the screen. The show doesn't even fill up the screen vertically on my 50" Sony E50A10. I can use Zoom on the TV but it overscans. When it goes to a commercial everything looks fine for full screen content.

Nip Tuck is shot in 16x9 format. Stretching or zooming are your only options. On my 65" Mitsu, the first zoom setting on the 622 looks the best to me.

Ahhhh, I never thought about that. I guess we'll continue to get a crappy picture until FX goes HD. :( Thanks for the input.

Yep, you have to remember that on a SD program, the 16:9 frame is within the 4:3 image. It should zoom up to a close fit on your 16:9 set, but on mine it does overscan.

Zoomed Dish SD is not the sharpest image on the block.

Yeah its all on how the show is broadcast so until they make the show in HD not a lot anyone can do. In most cases it always going to be on the TV Networks end..
