Will this dish work for FTA?

I am going to pick up a free Hughesnet system in the morning, which includes a modem, dish and wall mount.

I just want to use the dish for FTA. Will it work? Is the modem worth anything?

It will work, but is a little on the small side. You will need to get a different linear LNBF and fashion a way to mount in the exact same spot as the old one.
It will be enough to get your feet wet if you are handy with making some modifications.

No the modem is worthless, without a subscription.
