I just ran across a53" hitachi ultrascan hd tv for free.no pic or sound lokked in the back and looks like it mighta got wet and the circuit board looks burnt.any ideas how much this will cost to fix? is it worth it? It'd be a great tv for the basement

It's possible that the failed components weakened everything else.

My NEC plasma had a power supply "bang" in February. The power supply was replaced. In August, "the glass" (main part of plasma) failed. The repair guy said that "the glass" was probably stressed when the power supply failed, and finally failed itself. (Extended warranties rock!)

The "wet" and "burnt" components would really concern me.
