Hi,

This is my first post and first satellite, so excuse my newbieness.

I followed Iceberg's advice and bought a Coolsat 4000 pro and gear from
FTAdirect - the coolsat universal package:

The dish arrived with a huge dent in it. I straightened it out with a good
smack but I am hoping that the dealer will replace it. I'm waiting to hear back from dealer.

I want to watch Thai TV on Telsat 5. I have my dish pointed where I think Telsat 5 should be. I scanned with a Blind Scan and came up with these channels:

Rainbow 1 (baseball)
Rainbow 2 (baseball)
Rainbow 3 (baseball)
Service 1
TV 2511 (scrambled)
TV 2512 (scrambled)
TV 2513 (scrambled)

Does anyone know what satellite I'm pointed at? I'm afraid to rotate the dish because I'm afraid I'll never find another bird! It took two days to find this one.

My other question is: Do I have the wrong LNB? What I have is a Digiwave DGL 990d "DSS Dual LNBF" [input freq. 11.7 - 12.2Ghz] [LO 10.75Ghz] ???

I think I was supposed to get a Ku band LNB with that package. That's what I need for watching FTA isn't it?

Thanks for any help.

Hello Philter Welcome to the SatelliteGuys.US FTA Forum!

You are on the AMC-6 @ 72w satellite.

Just scanned in the baseball (service 1) it has since went off air.

So you would have to move your dish 25 degrees to the right from behind the dish(west) to get to IA-5 (97w)

Thanks PSB! That was infinitely helpful. Now I have a point of reference in the Universe.

I think I've found telsat 5. It's pouring down rain so I had to pull my tools and 9" monitor into the house. The blind scan is running..

wup, there's a channel...
