The leading satellite company has joined forces with Kirkland, WA-based VoiceBox Technologies to develop the next-generation capabilities, and plans to offer the results to automotive manufacturers this year. Aftermarket manufacturers will also benefit from the alliance. For now, the telematics capabilities will be showcased in a loaded 2006 Lexus LX 470 at CES in Las Vegas. "After extensive analysis, XM chose VoiceBox as its source for voice technology because of its intuitive and conversational voice search offerings that have remarkable accuracy in noisy, real-world environments," explained Rod Mackenzie, director of Advanced Applications at XM Satellite Radio.
