By way of the TiVo Community and whispers on the wind, we learn that TiVo intends to launch a new, higher-end DVR at CEDIA early next month… despite laying off their in-house industrial design hardware team. As to what comes after Roamio Plus and Pro, one can only guess.

I have reason to believe this incoming model will provide significantly more recording capacity, although it’s not entirely clear if this is accomplished via a single 4-6TB drive OR multiple drives working in concert for outrageous amounts of storage.

I wonder what else? Finally bringing on Amazon Prime streaming?

TIVO doesn't have the cloud servers, so would need to team up with Google, Microsoft or some other cloud provider.

There is also a rumor floating that TIVO is looking into dropping the service fee on the TIVO Mini. That would be a smart move on their part as it would help it be more competitive against the other DVRs.

You can get lifetime on the minis for $150, so the box is 250 without monthly fees.

But the mini is more like Dish' Joey in that it steals resources from a 4-6 tuner TIVO. It can't be the primary DVR.

Correct, at TiVo DVR can support 3 streams at one time. A stream could be a mini or the TiVo Stream. They do have dynamic tuner allocation though, so if a mini is not being used it does not tie up a tuner on the TiVo. If you have multiple TiVo DVRs the minis can stream programming from any of them (Premiere or Roamio, not the old HD or series 3).

Passive AVR and powered subwoofer?

Chromecast support comes to Pac-12, TED, MTV, and Qello
