I am Tom Taylor. I have been in the satellite business since 1985 and have written for a number of satellite publications since the eary 90s, most recently http://www.electronicretailer.com. I sell satellite equipment on my web site at http://www.mpeg2fta.com I also explain "MPEG2 free to air" on my web site. Be warned that the contents of the website are a summation of years of writing and may not always be easy to follow or up to date. I have been asked to moderate this forum. I hope that this will allow satellite hobbyists to share their experiences and knowledge of the hobby. Free to Air is a legal way to watch satellite tv and as moderator I will NOT tolerate any discussion of illegally stealing satellite signals. No discussion of hacking or illegal receiver modification will be tolorated. --ENJOY--

Hi Tom, good to see the FTA section up.
If anyone's interested in FTA you should head over to Toms site for more info, I just ordered a new dish/LNB setup for FTA.
If the wife is in a good mood the HH motor comes next.......

I am glad to see that there is a FTA forum up now.

I have been curious about something for a while. I used to pick up the NBC feeds off of 101 with my PrimeStar Dish and VC2 receiver but heard that they now use a different type of receiver to pick up those signals but have read where some have been able to pick them up (at least for the news or something). Is there still some free NBC feeds on 101 for those with a VC2 receiver?

There are the 4 NBC feeds (e, c, m, p) on AMC4 C-Band

You would need a DVB receiver and a big ol dish to pick these up

Thinking of tinkering with this.

Any FTA advice for us novices?
