I am Legend (very Bluish purple) will destroy the high def charts next week.

What about Atonement (HD) vs. Enchanted (Blu)?

I think Enchanted will wipe the floor with Atonement on SD DVD, but I'm not so sure on the high def side.

Enchanted should do well. A pretty entertaining, family oriented movie. I agree, "I Am Legend" should clean up for BD next week.

For the very reasons you mention, I think Enchanted will be closer to the top spot than many would think. I Am Legend doubled it's take at the BO, but Enchanted was universally praised by critics. Atonement was a snooze: a very heavy romantic drama. When economies are bad, people prefer the more escapist fare.

If this Amazon bestsellers list is not manipulated, it is interesting that the target audience for "Enchanted" is less likely to be interested in hidef than the "I'm Legend" audience.

The good news is, even the "Enchanted" lovers know the difference between wide-screen and full-screen and prefer the former...

Nothing unexpected, but interesting nonetheless...

I think the $18.95 price tag has something to do with the BD doing so well also...

That and the the huge numbers of commercials on TV announcing the BD version with special features. I have never seen I am Legend. The only trailers I have seen on TV before the BD version commercials was showing him and his dog and some lion. The BD commericals changed things up and show a bunch of other things... now I kind of want to watch it.

The HD DVD combo version of "I Am Legend" is about the same price, but it's all the way down to #23 as of today.

I wonder how many people will have inadvertently bought the BD version without having a BD player based on price and TV ads, etc.

Ironically, Atonement is only $20 at Best Buy. However, a local Best Buy near where I worked didn't even put them out on the shelves. :river

Putting more dirt on HD DVD's casket is one thing, but at least wait until the ground is hard before urinating on its grave.

Interesting...
Is it Fox releasing better movies or BD+ being hacked that is the reason Fox is so heavily represented in the top 10?
Die Hard 4 wasn't there for a while, was it?

Thanks, Zookster. I read that one myself. I guess people had already put off HD DVD buying, etc. I don't blame them. Universal didn't even send out review copies of Atonement. The folks at HighDefDigest, JoeWhipHD, etc. had to buy copies to review. Joe is still behind on HD DVD reviews.

What's done is done. C'est la vie.

The only good movies in the top 10 are Disney flicks. Wow!

I believe Casino Royale and Ratatouille were part of the Target BOGO free sale.
