Directv passed this info on to me after my HR20 suffered a hard drive failure this week. They say with the discontinuation of the analog signal next Feb. my HR20 will no longer be able to deliver my OTA signal. That sooner or later I will HAVE to get the HR21/AM21 combo in order to get my OTA signal. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks.

Not correct. HR-20 has the ATSC tuner built in.

The HR-21 does not so you need a AM-21 to tune into off air singals if you have an HR21.

If you have a HR-20 you are all set for the great Digital changerover.

Well that's what I always believed. But the 2 people I talked to, a CSR and later someone in the cancellation dept.(a long story), both said the same thing. The CSR I can understand. But my understanding is the people in the cancellation dept. are a "step above" the rest. Which is why I took it as accurate. Unbelievable! Maybe they have no HR20s to replace? Maybe it was a way of getting me into an HR21? If they deliberately lied, I'd have to say it was a pretty bold move on their part. Can I demand an HR20?

You can, but no one can guarantee you getting one. It is the luck of the draw at the local warehouse as to which one you will get. You may be able to contact the local install company and ask them if you can get the HR20. Good luck!

What garbage from the CSR. The D* receivers don't even have analog/NTSC tuners in them now so how could you loose something you never had?

But as others have said, if you have a HR20 you're good to go for continuing to receive OTA channels after 2/2009.

Red/amber band at top of HD channels

What's the deal with D* guide ads?
